After having traveled on our sailboat in Mexico for over a year, we decided that it's time to convey an objective picture of the friendly and hospitable people and the hidden treasures of the country. We started producing the TV documentary series “Travel Secrets Mexico”, because we were frustrated about the countless negative news and often unsubstantiated travel warnings. We finished the first episode of the series of 12 shows about popular tourist destinations in Mexico. What We Want to Accomplish

The negative propaganda from the US and Canadian media took a heavy toll on Mexico’s tourism industry. It has wiped out thousands of small businesses and is hurting millions of families who depend on tourism.

It is easy to understand that during a bad economy the US and Canada are trying to keep the money in their countries. What we passionately dislike are the methods they use to accomplish this goal. We are convinced that it is not only wrong to use mass manipulation and "Character Assassination" of a country, it is also negligent and irresponsible, because we are neighbors and depend on each other.

Is Mexico Safe to Visit?

There is a drug war going on in Mexico and more than 47,500 people have been killed during the last five years. Fortunately, this has nothing to do with most of the tourist destinations. Many of the travel warnings are exaggerated or unsubstantiated and give a false impression. Travel Secrets Mexico will show what really happens in the tourist destinations.

We visited many areas and towns in Mexico and always felt safe and welcome. Our own experience shows that the Mexican people are very friendly and family-oriented. It is our hope that TV viewers in the US and Canada see through this commercially motivated scare tactics and return to Mexico for their vacations.

How Your Contributions will be Used

None of the money we raise from Kickstarter will go towards paying ourselves. We have our own production equipment and donate our time. All the sponsor money will be used exclusively to cover the cost of promoting the series and buying additional airtime.

Travel Secrets Mexico will first be broadcast on the FamilyNet Television in the US and Canada, starting in the fall of 2012. The network currently reaches more than 50 million viewers. Later we will approach the Travel Channel and the Discovery Channel.

To be able to make a big impact, we have to repeat our shows several times. This means we need to buy a lot of additional airtime. Only repetition guarantees that our message will sink in and motivate people to return and spend their vacation in Mexico's beautiful destinations. We are looking for supporters who share our mission to restore the trustful relationship we had with our neighbors to the south and help them to overcome this crisis and create momentum for their tourism.
