The Banderas Bay Region is home to over 300 species of different birds and will be the site on March 5 through 8 for the Puerto Vallarta International Birding Festival.
The Festival is hosted by the Vallarta Bird Conservancy and will kick off on March 5 at the host hotel Grand Miramar.
Four action packed days of birding and nature walks with expert guides in unique habitats will be sure to satisfy even the most advanced birders, workshops and lectures from local and international authorities on many interesting bird and birding related topics will round out the festival.
Featuring 4 days of guided tours, presentations, and lectures for a wonderful opportunity to view, learn and enjoy the wonderful birds in Puerto vallarta and Cabo Corrientes area whether you are an avid birder or just beginning. There is something for everyone, young and old from March 5-8, 2015.
Tours include Vallarta Botanical Gardens, Rancho Primavera, Bioto Road, Provincia Road, Laguna del Quelele, El Salado, Boca de Tomatlan, Las Carmelitas, Isla Marietas and El Jorullo Military Macaw.
These tours encompass a wide variety of areas and birds, a privately owned wildlife sanctuary, scenic rural roads high in the mountains with tropical dry forest and ranchlands, little-known mangrove ecosystem in Nuevo Vallarta, the protected wildlife reserve in Puerto Vallarta, Island Sanctuary and the hunt to see the protected magnificent Military Macaw.
These tours are sure to please every level of birder.
For those that would like to learn about shorebirds, there is a two day workshop. We will review around 40 species of shorebirds, migratory and native, including some rarity. Shorebirds are inside the top 5 of the longest flyway for migratory birds on earth.
