The Riviera Nayarit is a destination with an ample variety of services that make it possible to host a variety of events. This includes martial arts competitions, and the last weekend of March is set to receive two top-notch events.

To wit: the 2015 “Titanes del Pacífico” Martial Arts competition and the 4th Capoeira Art Festival, experiences brought to the destination by their organizers in collaboration with the department of Groups and Events from the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Bureau.

2015 “Titanes del Pacífico”

Soodokan and the WAKO Nayarit Kickboxing Associated, a tournament that showcases different martial arts disciplines including Tae Kwon Do, Kun Fu, Karate, Kickboxing, and Muay Thai, among others, will be presenting this national event. It will be held on Saturday, March 28th in the Hotel Paradise Village Convention Center in Nuevo Vallarta.

From sunrise to dusk more than 400 fighters from three to 50 years of age will arrive from Nayarit, Jalisco, Sinaloa, Estado de México, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas and Guanajuato to show off their many skills.

Levels range from amateur to Black Belt masters. All those registered with WAKO Mexico will be competing for classification in the upcoming international championships endorsed by the International Olympic Committee.

4th Capoeira Art Festival

This cultural festival, which revolves around capoeira, the Brazilian martial arts discipline, returns to San Pancho from March 27-29. There will be workshops, batizado ceremonies, rodas and all sorts of events related to this culture on display in the Cultural Capital of the Riviera Nayarit.

The event is organized by Abada Capoeira Nayarit in order to welcome new members and change the cords of the already batizado alumni (batizado literally means baptized). There are approximately 40 alumni in the Nayarit school and there will be about 60 more capoeirstas attending the event from around Mexico.

Instructors from Brazil and California will also be present to share their knowledge. The presentations and ceremonies will take place at the Bodega Teatros, Entre Amigos, the Plaza del Sol and the gymnasium in San Pancho.
