Integral Hearing Health and Wellness is committed to improving hearing health for under-served individuals, youth, families and communities in developing countries. Our current project takes us to Jaltemba Bay, Nayarit, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta and rural areas.

Hearing impairment is one of the most common sensory deprivations in humans, severely impacting the physical and psychosocial well-being of over 300 million people worldwide. More than three-quarters of those live in developing countries which lack financial resources and access to hearing health and rehabilitative services (World Health Organization, 2013).

Consequences of impaired hearing can result in inability to interpret speech correctly often resulting in communication difficulties, delayed language acquisition, social isolation, educational and financial disadvantage, and stigmatization. It may be compounded by sexual violence, or physical abuse as well as other medical conditions such as diabetes, Alzheimer's, and hypothyroidism. We believe that education and increased awareness are critical to improving hearing health for individuals, families, and communities, and overcoming poverty.

We support Casa Hogar Children's Orphanage in PVR through funding and hearing health services. On two visits to Casa Hogar Orphanage in 2015 we provided hearing screening testing and education over 30 children and 5 staff. Read more at Second Visit to Casa Hogar Orphanage.

Through crowdfunding, we support children in most need. Please visit Go Fund Me for Simrri's story.
