Local Olympian Suzy Chaffee and a thousand Vallartans thanking the iconic fishermen (r-l) Phil Kerr (Cherokee), and Memo, (plus Yiyo, this year’s chairman) and team, for the delicious catch from their 8th Los Muertos Fishing Contest they pioneered. “We wanted to invite the town to enjoy our ‘tortillas and fishes’ each year, following in the Shoes of the Fisherman’s ‘loaves and fishes,’ and Vallarta’s generous founders of both cultures,” said Kerr.

Phil also co-hosted Vallarta Saludable’s Whale Protection Ceremony at Los Muertos Pier in February where 10 whales and babies then frolicked at the pier for three days. This spirit of sharing and raising awareness about responsible fishing practices is another reason to love Vallarta. See video and pics of this slice of fishing heaven in Vallarta.
