Following is just an overview of all the events and festivities happening this week in Vallarta-Nayarit.
Paint the Town Red Dinner Theatre - Monday
Get ready for a new fun-filled tour great for both tourists and locals. Paint the Town Red is an easy way to enjoy the best Puerto Vallarta has to offer whether you are on-your-own tourist, local or want to meet new friends.
Paint the Town Red operates on Mondays and meets at 5:15 pm at Tre Piatti Italian Restaurant, Lazaro Cardenas 292. Tour Co-owner and escort Christie Selph stated “We are excited to be partnering with Act 2 entertainment and The Palm to offer their shows to our guests. This is a dinner theatre highlighting the many talented musical and entertainment performers coming to these venues.”
Mamas and the Papas California Dreamin - Monday and Wednesday
The historical music of the Mamas and the Papas was presented by four singers: Jenny Allen, Stephanie Wright Watts, Joseph Dane and Elviz Martinez. Don Pope and Rhonda Podmos, who served as the group's vocal director and conductor, supplied background vocals. On drums and electric guitar were Jesus Estrada and Roberto Falcon. The singers executed four-part harmony with each taking a line or two, just as in the original song recordings. This quartet was phenomenal, resurrecting the smooth, rich and sweet but strong vocals of the renowned members.
California Dreamin' will be performed on the Main Stage of Act II Entertainment every Monday and Wednesday at 7:00 pm through January 27, 2016.
PuRR Fashion Show & Brunch - Tuesday
You're invited to an elegant Fashion Show and Brunch on Tuesday, January 12, 10:30 am at Daiquiri Dick's on Los Muertos Beach in Old Town Vallarta.
The 300-peso donation ticket price will include a three-course brunch (with mimosas!), beautiful fashions from Sucesos Boutique, La Santa Boutique, Serafina, and Flirts Skirts, fabulous jewelry designed by Sonia Bormann - and a raffle for great prizes!

Downtown Vallarta Art Walk - Wednesday
Puerto Vallarta has established itself as a vibrant center of art creation, exhibition and promotion. An important contribution to the city´s art scene is Puerto Vallarta´s ArtWalk which this year will be held every Wednesday, 6:00 - 10:00 pm through May 25, 2016.
The participating galleries in Centro Historico offer works by important national and international artists. Remarkable paintings, exceptional sculptures, fine ceramics, blown glass and other types of noteworthly art are offered.
Tango Lessons in La Cruz - Thursday
On January 14, 2016 and every Thursday thereafter, Tango classes will be held at La Cruz' Octopus's Garden with Miriam and Froy.
Miriam Krashnan, originally from Mexico City, and Froyamel Corro, from Morelia, are both classically trained in ballet and modern dance. Their passion for Argentine Tango and their success at the World Tango Festival in Buenos Aires make them sought-after performers and teachers in competitions, festivals and workshops throughout Mexico.
Miriam and Froy are Tango world semi-finalists. They will be leading instruction in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Riviera Nayarit from 7:00 until 8:30 pm.
An Evening with Levi Kreis - Thursday and Saturday
Levi Kreis is an actor and recording artist from Oliver Springs, TN. He first came to national recognition in 2004 as a singer/songwriter appearing on NBC’s The Apprentice.
An Evening with Levi will be presented in Act II Entertainment's Red Room at 7:30 pm on January 14, 16, 21, & 23 with a 9:30 pm show on January 12.
Fearless Fridas Exhibition Opening - Friday
Join us at Art VallARTa on Friday, January 15 from 6:00 until 9:00 pm for the Celebration Party Opening of a collaborative Exhibition of over 40 international artist artwork inspired by Frida Kahlo.
The Exhibition includes artistic exploration of the different aspects of Frida Kahlo’s life: Romance, ex-votos, pre-columbian art and portraiture.
The Fearless Fridas Exhibition runs through February 10th.
Vallarta Cup Race Series - Saturday
The Riviera Nayarit is signaling the start of the sailing season with the traditional Vallarta Cup Race Series. Over two-dozen boats will be competing in this friendly and very festive event.
The Vallarta Yacht Club (VYC) in Nuevo Vallarta will be hosting this series, which will include the participation of the other marinas in the region, including the Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and the Marina Vallarta.
Races start at noon every Saturday in January, with theme parties every evening. This year the activities will take place on January 9, 16, 23 and 30. Because this is a friendly competition, the boats can participate in one or all the races.
Fashion Show & Luncheon Fundraiser for Special Needs Children - Saturday
Imagine the fun of sitting together with friends in an fabulous venue, watching a great fashion show, enjoying a well-crafted 3 course meal and helping a worthy cause! Here’s your chance!
After last year’s overwhelming success and a complete sellout, Deja New’s Kathleen Palmer is ringing in the new year with a Fashion Charity Luncheon at River Café with all proceeds going to Pasitos de Luz.

Boom Beach SUP Festival in Lo de Marcos - Saturday and Sunday
The 1st Lo de Marcos Boom Beach Fest will be held January 16-17, 2016, making it the first Stand Up Paddle (SUP) tournament in the Riviera Nayarit for the year. The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau and its Groups department are lending their full support to this event, which encourages the region’s iconic sport.
Besides the Men’s and Women’s divisions there will be races for children and beginners, surf clinics, SUP and many other activities on the beach at Lo de Marcos.
Legends of the 50s & 60s - Sunday
Returning to Act II Entertainment after a super successful run last 2014-15 season in a tribute to The 4 Seasons, which will be repeated often here, too, Paul Fracassi presents a new show featuring well-known great hits of the 1950's and 1960's. This was a super time in music history.
Paul will continue to demonstrate his vocal prowess every Sunday at 7:30 pm in the Red Room of Act II Entertainment until the end of March, 2016 in Puerto Vallarta and said he will be ever-changing his songbook so each return visit will feature songs not heard every night.
Voice of Vallarta at Act II - Sunday
The Voice of Vallarta competition has started the third season for 2015 - 2016 in looking for the best singer in the Bay of Banderas.
Act II Entertainment has spent the summer and after hundreds of auditions they have narrowed the field to 20 of the best.
The reality show competition season opener was on November 22 and will continue every Sunday at 8:00 pm until the big closing night scheduled for March 20, 2016.
