FREE Dental Care for La Cruz Elementary Students

Share
Team Angels - Amigos de La Cruz
January 14, 2016

The Academy of LDS Dentists Puerto Vallarta Dental Service Project has been serving the children of the Puerto Vallarta area for over ten years. Children at the Infantil Refugio de Santa Esparanza and The Casa Hogar Maximo Cornejo orphanages have been served since the project first began. School children in the outlaying villages of Quimixto, La Cruz, and Punta de Mita have also been served.  Mobile equipment has been used to set up clinics in these different locations. Some equipment has been stored year around in Puerto Vallarta.

The Academy of LDS (Latter Day Saints) dental team is donating their time, materials and services to provide FREE dental care to the children attending the Primary (Elementary School) in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Riviera Nayarit.

All the children were screened in November by Drs. Linda and Darold Brown.

Now the team of 2 dentists and 4 hygienists and their assistants will "drill, fill, seal, and clean" teeth.

Amigos de La Cruz is asking for your help as volunteers to help with all aspects of this generous community service project.

Volunteers needed for:

• Jan 16 & 17, Sat & Sun: Clean and Set-Up at Senior Center (across from La Cascada Restaurant and around the corner from the Octopus Garden Restaurant).

• Jan 18, 19, 20 (Mon-Wed): From 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. We need volunteers to accompany the children to/from school to the Senior Center; provide snacks to dental staff; assist dental staff (ex. clean equipment).

• Jan 20,  (Wed): Thank You NO-HOST Pizza Night, 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Langosta Diez Restaurant for the 21 Dental Team members here from Boise, Idaho.

• Jan 21 (Thurs): From 8:00 am to 2:00 pm with the children. Then break-down equipment and help carry to vehicles.

As a show of our appreciation, there is a NO HOST "Thank You" at Restaurant Langosta Diez (the former Frascati's Restaurant at the Glorieta) from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

If you can help as a volunteer, please email Shannon Morrelli at svsweetie@gmail.com.
