PuRR 2013 Calendar
We are very excited about our next fund-raising project...a PuRR Calendar!
It is just in the planning stages but we hope to have it printed and ready to sell at the Saturday Market by early Fall.
This calendar will primarily feature photos of PuRR Shelter cats that have been adopted and are now enjoying life in their Forever Homes.
But we need YOUR help. If you would like us to consider your adopted kitty for one of the twelve spots available, we need recent photos. So go through your albums or get out the Nikon and start taking pictures of your cat snoozing or playing or doing whatever things cats do. Get creative! We need good quality photos with high resolution that can be blown up to 8 x 10 size.
Along with your new photos, we need a quick bio of the cat's name, your names, other pets, what town you live in and anything you want to share about life with your new kitty or about the decision to adopt a rescued animal. The deadline is August 15 to send photos to Linda Brasseal at info@purrproject.com. We can't wait to hear from you!

PuRR Project Website
We are so pleased to announce the unveiling of our new revamped website, here’s the link to our new home page.
Our web designer, Griffin Page, has been hard at work for the past two months, updating the site with cool new features. One of my favorites is the proposed integration of the Newsletter so that anyone visiting the site can easily view the current as well as past newsletters…..in English or Spanish.
There is also a link to our Facebook page, which volunteer Shannon Campbell has been updating with lots of photos from the adoption posts and other news relating to animal rescue in Vallarta. Griffin is still working on tweaking the site but we just couldn't wait to show it off!
By the way, Griffin is the one who designed the FABULOUS PuRR Project logo that we are so proud of. You can check out her website and services here or contact her by e-mail at gp@griffingraffix.com.
Little Reggie's very first photograph and what a good poser he is! |
Featured Feline - Reggie
Reginald (Reggie) is one of the cutest kitties and a big favorite of volunteers in our nursery right now. He is a soft "creamcicle" orange and will probably have long fur.
He is almost old enough to be neutered and should be at one of our adoption posts later this month where he is sure to be scooped up quickly!
Reggie is one of 20 babies dumped in plastic bags over our fence one night last month and our vet, Dr. Tamayo, has been working hard to save them...Reggie is one of the lucky ones.
If you are interested in adopting Reggie or one of our other rescue kittens, please contact us at adopt@purrproject.com or visit one of our adoption posts at Plaza Marina on Fridays 11:00 am - 2:00 pm or Community Center Market on Saturdays 9:30 am – 12:30 pm.
Vida & Stephano enjoying each other’s company. |
A Testimonial - Vida & Stephano
Lucy Embree is a local PuRR supporter who wanted to share her rescue story with our readers. I think of her every time someone tells me they'd love to adopt one of our cats but they can't because they already have a dog! Read on:
"Vida, our German Shepherd is 11 years old, and the vet says she will soon cross The Rainbow Bridge. A couple of years ago, though, Vida was there in full force when we rescued a beautiful Siamese kitten from the street. We named him Stephano, and Vida took over the job of letting Stephano nurse on her. Now, 2 years later, it's Stephano’s turn to be there for "her mom", Vida… as Vida ends her time here on this earth. I’m submitting this photo of Stephano at Vida’s side, as he always is these days. Losing Vida is going to break our hearts, but we know Vida is in Stephano's good hands until her time comes...good friends until the end. Please remember that cats and dogs CAN get along under the right circumstances. Having rescue animals is such a joy, and when they go to The Rainbow Bridge, they wait for us before crossing. Knowing that gives us peace. Stephano knows, too."
GOOD MEOWS!
Jose & his cats go viral on Facebook! |
Jose & His Cats
Jose is the kid who lives in the little house on the "ranch" and gets up at sunrise every morning, 7 days a week, to start the chores that go along with caring with over 250 felines...first being sure they are fed...including any that may need bottle feeding.
Then there's cleaning out and refilling the water bowls and the litter boxes in the casitas, mopping the floors, raking the yards and the giant outdoor litter box, loads of laundry...then it's feeding time again!
This week, Shannon posted a photo of Jose with a few of the cats on our Facebook page and was stunned with the reaction. She reports: "I'm obsessed with watching the numbers grow on the page, due to Jose! We've gained even more 'likes' today for the PuRR page, now we're at 375! Over 1,500 people have seen his picture (our most popular post to date), 85 people have 'liked' it, and at least 3 other cat rescue groups have shared his photo, and in turn, people that are seeing it on other pages are sharing it again and again! We need to tell him he's a Internet sensation...he's gone viral!!! HA!"
...and the funny thing is...Jose does not even know what Facebook is!!!
We invite you to add your charity or supporting organizations' news stories and coming events to PVAngels so we can share them with the world. Do it now!
From activities like hiking, swimming, bike riding and yoga, to restaurants offering healthy menus, Vallarta-Nayarit is the ideal place to continue - or start - your healthy lifestyle routine.
