The Fire Department of Puerto Vallarta is a source of pride and satisfaction with a high level of commitment and willingness to service from each of its members, so the National Firefighters Day was one of the most emotional festivities for the municipality.

This was stated by Mayor Arturo Davalos Peña at the ceremony for National Firefighters Day that was held Monday at the Fire Station Headquarters in downtown Puerto Vallarta.

"The Firefighters Day is an opportunity for us all to reflect on the importance of their work. It is an occasion to recognize the work of all those whose vocation leads to the extreme of risking their own lives."

The mayor reiterated the government's support to the Vulcanos Vallartenses, "we have the best fire department in Mexico, I am pleased to say that we are on the right track because here we have the most willing firefighters to serve and give their life for his fellow man. We recognize their cooperation in safeguarding Puerto Vallarta."

The mayor announced that next year this dependence will be one of those equipped to fulfill its important service to the community with better tools, which could include the purchase of a new fire truck.

Deputy Director Adrian Bobadilla Garcia recalled that in Puerto Vallarta there is a history of the existence of firefighters in the 70s that were sponsored by the municipality, but it was not until 1993 when a fire brigade was established which was equipped with a motor pump and a truck and they were located at the entrance to Las Gaviotas colony where they remained for more than 10 years.

During the event, the ceremonial roll call protocol took place with elements of the Municipal Civil Protection Coordination and Fire, delivery of uniforms and equipment.

Upon completion of the formal ceremony, the sculpture "Man of Flame" ("El Hombre de Flama") was unveiled by the artist Francisco Sanmiguel, who narrated about how he was rescued from death by lifesavers, so he decided to donate the piece he had created in appreciation.

Councilwoman president of the edilicia commission of Civil Protection, Elisa Ramirez, congratulated the Vulcans for the excellent role played and acknowledged by firefighters, paramedics and lifeguards in Puerto Vallarta who are critical to the security offered to visitors as a tourist destination.

Also present were the president of DIF, Candelaria Tovar de Davalos, and the manager of the Association of Hotels and Motels, Alejandro Torres Magaña and the aldermen Celina Lomeli, Juan Jose Cuevas Garcia, Gilberto Lorenzo and Magaly Fregoso Ortiz.

It should be noted that Firefighters Day began at 7:30 am where they attended the traditional Mass in the Parish of Guadalupe where thanks were given. From there, they walked to Los Arcos on the Malecon for the above official photo. The day closed with a dinner dance and gift presentations.
