Following is just an overview of all the events and festivities happening this week in Vallarta-Nayarit.

International Migratory Birds Festival - Monday through Sunday

The XIII International Migratory Birds Festival (FIAM by its acronym in Spanish) will be celebrated in San Blas from January 29 to February 5, 2017. This year’s program offers a variety of activities aimed at encouraging culture, the arts and, above all, the preservation of the environment with a special focus on birds.

Rosaura Gascón, president of FIAM in San Blas, has extended an open invitation to all who want to get to know more about this 13-year-old project that seeks to contribute to the development of the Riviera Nayarit.

TED Talks Vallarta Style - Tuesday

Each presentation in the series will challenge your mind as well as inform you of topics that are of interest to the community.

The series is produced by local resident Norma Schuh and presented every other Tuesday at the Boutique Theatre from 10:00 am until Noon until April 18.

What is Connect with Mexico?

It is a series of conversations supported by an effective and fun method of learning about Mexican culture, geography, history, literature, art, government, and its many peoples.

It is a tool for English-speaking individuals living in or visiting Puerto Vallarta to expand their understanding of their adopted country, Mexico.

Join us every Tuesday from 10:30 until Noon at ART VallARTa.

Kitty Bingo at Margarita Grill - Wednesday

Come play Bingo with us at Margarita Grill on Wednesday, February 1!

We’ll be giving away great prizes like like 200-peso gift certificates for for La Palapa, The Blue Shrimp, Mikey’s Deli at Los Mercados, and Carol’s Boutique, homemade chocolates, bottles of tequila, rum and wine, and MUCHO mas — plus our famous 50/50 raffle, and Margarita Grill’s food and drink specials just for us Bingo players!

This week’s numbers callers will be the husband-and-wife team of Connie Argus and Thom Barnes, so plan on a fun evening!

Get there early for a good seat ~ cards go on sale at 4:30 pm; the fun starts at 5:00 pm.

Whale Watching Fundraiser - Wednesday

The John Ozzello Memorial Food Bank is hosting a major fundraiser again this year to help get us through the low season.

For only 700 pesos, you can enjoy a day of Whale Watching as well as helping to support the local food bank.

The boat will be leaving La Cruz Marina at 8:30 am and will be returning at around 3:00 pm on Wednesday, February the 1st, 2017.

Included in this fundraiser is: Whale Watching, Snorkelling, Continental Breakfast, Open Bar, and Lunch. There will also be a raffle on-board with many wonderful prizes! It has been a huge success in the past years and we hope to have as many excellent prizes again.

Festival Sayulita - Wednesday through Sunday

The 4th edition of the Festival Sayulita, Film, Spirits, Music & Vida, is ready to go from February 1-5, 2017 — and it’s going to knock it out of the park.

There’s plenty of heart and soul going into it as the goal is not only to promote this Magical Town and the Surfing Capital of the Riviera Nayarit, but also to raise funds for a future cultural center, this according to a recent press conference where they laid out all the details of this event. For starters, they’re expecting a crowd of anywhere from seven to eight thousand people.

International Charro Championship - Wednesday through Sunday

From February 1st through February 5th, 32 of the best Charro teams in Mexico and the United States will gather at Arena Vallarta, in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México; to compete in the Sexto Gran Premio Internacional Charro (6th International Grand Prize Charro Championship). This year also marks the return of skirmishes, with 10 teams competing.

In addition to hot rodeo action, festivities include the traditional Verbena de Tradiciones Mexicanas, at Los Arcos del Malecón in downtown Puerto Vallarta, where you’ll enjoy free live music and dance performances, rope flourishing demonstrations and other activities.

Bucerias Art Walk - Thursday

Join us at the Bucerias Art Walk Plaza where "Life is an Art Walk."

The Bucerias Art Walk is every Thursday thru April from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.

Over 17 galleries participate at this weekly event, where we "Bring Art to the Streets."

Stroll under the palm trees, enjoy a traditional Mexican taste treat and a cool sip of sangria while discovering the un-discovered art and artists of Nayarit and Jalisco.

Brittany Kingery, originally from Washington State, but now living in Puerto Vallarta, is presenting her sensational new show called "Hasten Down the Wind," a tribute to the timeless music of living legend, Linda Ronstadt, winner of 11 Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards, an Emmy Award, an ALMA Award and numerous United States and internationally certified Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum Albums!

You can catch Brittany Kingery in the Red Room of Act II every Friday at 7:30 pm until March 31, 2017.

Vallarta Cup Race Series - Saturday

Nuevo Vallarta’s Vallarta Yacht Club (VYC) is testing out the 2017 winds in Banderas Bay during its Vallarta Cup Race, the first great event of the year in the Riviera Nayarit.
 
The competitions will take place around noon on each of January’s four Saturdays; in the afternoons the boats will return to the VYC, where a theme party will be ready to greet them.

Roy Orbison Tribute at El Rio - Saturday

El Rio BBQ is proud to present "Only the Lonely" Tribute to Roy Orbison starring the incredible Michael Danckert on Saturday, February 4, 2017.

Re-creating the look, sound and mood of a Roy Orbison concert is no job for amateurs. It takes a seasoned pro, with the vocal range of an opera singer, to really pull it off. And the multi-talented Michael Danckert, from Toronto, Ontario, pulls it off amazingly well.

Gates open at 6:30 pm and you can opt for the Dinner Show at 495 pesos per person or the Show Only (at 8:00) for 295 pesos.

Havana Nights Fundraiser for Casa Hogar - Saturday

Villa Bahía Vallarta will host it's annual fundraiser to benefit Casa Hogar Maximo Cornejo Orphanage in Puerto Vallarta.

The children's shelter is run by Catholic Nuns, employees and volunteers who are dedicated to providing needy children with food, clothing and shelter and to ensure that they attend school and are given a safe haven for as long as necessary.

This year's theme is Havana Nights and the date is Saturday, February 4 beginning at 6:30 pm and will include a 4 Course Gourmet Dinner provided by top chefs in Puerto Vallarta, a Premium Open Bar and Music.

The Voice of Vallarta - Sunday

Voice of Vallarta will be presented on Sunday evenings through April 9 on the Main Stage of Act II STAGES.

V.I.P seats in the first three rows, one cocktail per show, and seats for the big closing night. Check it out!

Rockabilly Sensation at Palm Bucerias - Sunday

Our stage is ready for 1950s Great Hits! The Sunday nights in Bucerias are set for swing/rockabilly dancing, great drinks, and fun for the whole family with Rockabilly Sensation show!

Rockabilly Sensation best known as Joker Trio Band. Based from Guadalajara city with Rock and Roll, Surf, Blues with unmatched style.
