Downhill Urban Cycling Competition Comes to Vallarta Team Angels - PVAngels

The Tourism Trust of Puerto Vallarta and Altius Events are proud to announce the first edition of Down Puerto Vallarta 2017 on April 29 and 30.

The best national and international professional cyclists will race down a spectacular track from above Puerto Vallarta at the Cerro de la Cruz (Antennas) with the urban cycling including steep descents, stairs, narrow alleys, ramps and incredible jumps as they travel through Downtown Vallarta towards the Malecon.

It is an "invitational" competition, where only athletes who meet certain characteristics of management, skills and technique are considered to participate mainly due to the intrinsic risk represented by such an event. Around 40 riders are expected to compete.

The locals and visitors are invited to watch the best bicycle riders of the planet in the modality of Downhill, Slopestyle and Freestyle as the professionals ride their bicycles downhill through a panoramic, 900-meter track.

Practice sessions will take place on Saturday, April 29 and the competition will be on Sunday, April 30. Some streets will be closed off during the practice and competition. Activities will begin at 4:30 pm on both days.

Altius Events has developed the famous international event of Down Hill Urbano year after year with a growing success in other cities of Mexico such as Taxco, Guerrero and is looking forward to creating this sports serial with a new and spectacular destination: Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. This event has become one of the most demanding and fun disciplines for competitors.

Puerto Vallarta has the ideal characteristics for the accomplishment of this particular event due to the orography, architecture, hospitality and services of this great national and international destination.

Media coverage by renowned sports media outlets such as Fox Sports and ESPN have been confirmed, so Puerto Vallarta will have international exposure - especially in the United States and Canada.
