YOU can help us out by attending our Loteria games! OR - send us a photo of your kitty if you'd like the chance to be included in the PuRR Project 2013 calendar! And... read about our ever improving little one, Nevalosa - who is one of the many little reasons we do what we do at PuRR.
It’s not THAT hard to get a cat to pose! |
PuRR 2013 Calendar
Thanks to all of you who have submitted photos of your PuRR adoptions to consider for our first effort at publishing a calendar.
It has been a bit of trial and error as we need really clear, large format photos that have NOT been compressed or altered so that they can be enlarged and still look great.
We are extending the deadline to send in photos until September 1, so please don't be shy - we still have a couple of months of our calendar to fill and NEED YOUR HELP!
Send your pics to info@purrproject.com and someone will be in touch with you.
Upcoming Events: Loteria
Mark your September calendars for a chance to play the traditional Mexican Loteria, and walk away with some really nice prizes including restaurant certificates, Starbucks gift cards, wine, Slatkin candles and more!
The event will be held at Los Alcatraces Restaurant on Wednesday, September 5, at 6:00 pm.
They have a great upstairs area complete with full bar and menu service and best of all, air conditioning!
Los Alcatraces is located just behind COSTCO and is only a block away from bus service on Francisco Villa.
Eric Winchell, AKA Beverly Fairfax, is on board to be our caller and those of you who remember her from our Loteria games last year at No Way Jose, will know you are in for a real FUN couple of hours!
Loteria is played a lot like BINGO but uses traditional Mexican images (sun, moon, palm tree, parrot, scorpion, boraccho man, etc.) instead of numbers so you get to learn a little Spanish while you play - and don't forget to shout MEOW when you win!
GOOD MEOWS!!
Nevalosa
Nevalosa is one of the many little reasons why we all do this!
She looked like a teeny Yoda when she was dumped at our gate. With lots of help from Dr. Tamayo, she is gaining strength and even growing hair!
...and we mean REALLY good news!!! After a year of struggle and a lot of help from volunteers stateside, we are so happy to announce we have completed the FIRST STEP to getting our official 5013c non-profit status from the IRS.
Many thanks to Carla Manning and Stephanie Pappas for their efforts to get our corporation in the United States as a non-profit with the official name of Purr Project U.S.A.
We are so grateful to Fred and Linda Marshall who have already donated the money needed to apply for the 5013c.
When the full process is complete, we will be able to give tax-deductible receipts to those donors who need them and obviously this is a big deal for those supporters who want to contribute in a big way.
We will keep you posted!
Market Day |
Co-Op Market at Paradise Community Center
Beautiful cats ready for adoption and colorful, fun PuRR Project merchandise for sale!
Here in Puerto Vallarta it's the height of our tropical summer and yes, it's pretty hot and steamy most days, but our volunteers are still hanging in there each Saturday from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm.
The Community Center announced they would close for September but many of the vendors want to stay open... We'll keep you informed.
In the meantime, we have some great logo T-shirts and shopping bags plus hand-crafted aprons by Lisa Love and notecards featuring PuRR shelter cats photographed by Jim Pappas.
We always have a few kitties looking for some lovin' while they wait for their Forever Homes! So drop by the market and say hello this week.
We are not allowed to sell merchandise at our adoption booth at Plaza Marina, but Livia and Shannon are there every Friday from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm with a selection of adorable kittens, all spayed/neutered, vaccinated and ready to be adopted!
We invite you to add your charity or supporting organizations' news stories and coming events to PVAngels so we can share them with the world. Do it now!
From activities like hiking, swimming, bike riding and yoga, to restaurants offering healthy menus, Vallarta-Nayarit is the ideal place to continue - or start - your healthy lifestyle routine.
