OPC Workshop Opens in Puerto Vallarta with Art + Books + Lectures Team Angels - OPC Workshop

OPC expands its area of operations by opening the OPC workshop, a space annexed to the gallery that will fulfill the functions of Workshop and Documentation Center.

The opening of this space will provide a wider range of cultural and educational services to the general public. The space will have a multifunctional vocation for workshops, reading, lectures, and exhibitions of students and workshoppers.

It will also serve as a center for summer workshops for local children and young people, with the purpose of providing a free and invaluable resource for youth and the community of Vallarta — offering a reading room with books on contemporary art, architecture and poetry; A space for conferences and workshops; and an exhibition space for student projects.

Join us for the Grand Opening inauguration on June 22. From 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, the photographic exhibition will be inaugurated "The Dissipation of Identity: Photographs of Erased People in Time" ("La disipación de la identidad: Fotografías de un pueblo borrándose en el tiempo") by Daniel Calvillo (Visual AlumnoArtes CUC, Generation 2018). From 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm, poetry and lyrics will be read by Carmen Franco, Ramón Domínguez, Rebeca Santiago, Fred Aceves and Karina Macías. There will also be live music set courtesy of Alejandro Muraira and Valeria Moeller

OPC Workshop will house a unique bibliographical collection in the city specializing in contemporary art, architecture and letters, thanks to donations of diverse materials, among those who stand out a collection of poetry books by the poet Carmen Villoro (Premio Jalisco 2016), editions of the magazine Luvina of Guadalajara, volumes of the micro-Library of CC-Catalog, projects of Buró-Buró, a collection of Mantis editors, and a selection of literature and books from PercevalPress and smart Art Press.

We welcome the public to the OPC workshop to read books, have a cup of coffee and engage in conversation with others. We are delighted that OPC workshop connects to the beautiful educational garden of  Martha and David Haynes and that OPC is able to continue with the ever-free educational program in both spaces.
