PEACE Punta de Mita and Fundación DINE Punta Mita announce the delivery of 800 electronic devices to young students through the “Connect Kids” Project.

The “Connect Kids” Project will deliver 533 tablets to elementary and middle school students and 130 laptops to high school students from public schools in the communities of Emiliano Zapata, Corral del Risco and Higuera Blanca.

PEACE Punta de Mita, in alliance with Fundación DINE Punta Mita announce the launch of the “Connect Kids” Project, which aims to support students from the communities of Emiliano Zapata, Corral del Risco and Higuera Blanca, making available the minimum technology necessary to be able to continue with their studies virtually and avoid lagging behind in their education, in addition to installing 3 free Wi-Fi access points during school hours.

One of the pillars of PEACE Punta de Mita is education; So we took on the task of carrying out a census that would allow us to evaluate the connectivity capacity of the students to know if they could continue their studies online. The result of this census showed that only in 133 households could children continue with their studies without any obstacle, 137 had a shared capacity among several siblings, 193 used their parents' mobile device and 402 had no way of being able to continue with their studies in this new normal.

Through the “Connect Kids” Project we will be supporting the education of students with the purchase and delivery of 533 tablets for elementary and middle school students and 130 laptops for high school students from public schools in the communities of Emiliano Zapata, Corral del Risco and Higuera Blanca, and support is expected to extend to more than 200 preschool children.

The first delivery took place at the Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla elementary school in Corral del Risco, on November 5; the second delivery was in the community of Higuera Blanca on November 12 and, the third delivery in Emiliano Zapata on November 19, following the same dynamics of delivery of pantries of the "Humanitarian Aid Initiative" -project that began last March and that to date has delivered 20 thousand weekly grocery bags, thanks to donations from our benefactors, which have exceeded 10.5 million pesos, and which will allow us to continue with this initiative until February 2021.

“It takes a lot of effort and discipline to not stop in the face of difficulties and never faint to achieve our goal: to help the families of our community who have been affected by this pandemic. Fortunately, we have built a great team together with Fundación DINE Punta Mita and La Comer, who have worked side by side with us in the development and operation of these projects. We thank all the people who have given us their support through donations and volunteering." - commented Ali Elias, executive director of PEACE Punta de Mita.
