As every year, the FOROB call was held, where the selected projects will receive a contribution of $ 79,950.00 MXN, as well as support to strengthen the methodological consistency of their projects and a training workshop on grassroots development processes. Health in Your Hands

Fundación Punta de Mita, through its Salud en tus Manos program, carried out a community health diagnosis of the communities of Emiliano Zapata, Corral del Risco and Higuera Blanca, with the aim of contributing to community health in Punta de Mita, strengthening capacities in individuals and families to promote and maintain health, as well as prevent and cope with disease.

The results of the diagnosis were presented to the community, with the participation of the doctor from the Punta de Mita Health Center and a representative from Punta Mita Hospital.

Workshop on Healthy Eating for Patients with Diabetes, Prediabetes and Prevention

In coordination with the Nutrition career of the University Center of the Coast (CUC), various activities were carried out in the Community Center of the Sea with adults and children, to prevent the health of the community.

As a first stage, a nutritional assessment was carried out where glucose, pressure, weight, height and body mass index were measured, followed by an information talk on signs and symptoms of Diabetes.

In the second stage, interactive workshops were held on the general points of food for pre-diabetic and diabetic patients. As well as healthy food recommendations.

Fun Mornings

Through the Funny Mornings program we promote that the children of Punta de Mita develop capacities to face the social problems caused by the global pandemic of COVID-19, propose solutions using science, the arts and technology, and be part of the change in their community. In this process they develop competencies for life (knowledge, skills, attitudes and values).

This year the achievements reached until the month of October are:

• 2,874 breakfasts served
• 60 Toys that were distributed on “Children's Day”
• 40 “Viva Natura” books delivered
• T-shirts, sunscreen and sunglasses were given to 60 children
• We have the help of 8 volunteers

Free Internet

This program that began in April continues in operation, providing a physical space with free internet access and technological assistance for the community. Children, youth and adults come to this space, mainly from the communities of Emiliano Zapata and Corral del Risco. Among the most requested activities are:

• Support in school tasks
• Advice for the use of cell phones and digital platforms
• Technological tutorials
• Advice for the use of Microsoft Office packages
• Free play and crafts
• During the months of July, August, September and October we have had a total of 726 visits

Hair Cutting Workshop

As part of our "Adult Workshop" program activities, a haircutting workshop was given by Haruby, a stylist from our community. Fundación Punta de Mita joined by providing a space in the Community Center and dissemination for the workshop.

This training was carried out during the months of May to July, achieving a total of 30 registered participants. As a closing activity, 40 free haircuts were made to people from the community.

Pastry and Bakery Workshop

In the month of October, the Pastry and Bakery Workshop of the Training Institute for Work began in Puerto Vallarta. The workshop lasts 30 hours and is given on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Those registered will learn different techniques and recipes, to put them into practice in the kitchen of the Centro Comunitario del Mar. This workshop is accredited by the Institute of Training for Work, participants will receive a certificate with official validity SEP.

After the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, a needs study was carried out in the three communities of Punta de Mita, with lack of employment being the number one problem. Therefore, it was considered to offer workshops that allow them to generate skills for self-employment and increase technical knowledge to access new job opportunities.

Our goal for 2022 is to launch 10 training workshops in partnership with institutions specialized in job training.

It really inspires us to see in action the attitude and solidarity shown by our community, we are convinced that we will come out stronger and united.

We invite you to be part of these actions!
