Destination:PEACE was born out of an idea to couple volunteer opportunities with the amazing landscape that the Bay of Banderas offers as a vacation destination. During a Destination:PEACE Volunteer Vacation, guests will experience another culture while making a difference in the lives of others: children, women, families, animals and the environment.
Sisters Molly Fisher and Katherine Fisher came up with the concept of Destination:PEACE Volunteer Vacations. PEACE Mexico, an organization that has been in existence since 2004, gave them the platform to create these special and unique volunteer vacations.
Katherine is a visionary businesswoman who has creatively found a way to balance her life's passions and practical skills into a social venture. After many years as a PEACE volunteer and multiple years serving on the Board of Directors, Katherine saw an opportunity to bring mind, body and spirit together and found Destination:PEACE Volunteer Vacations.
When Katherine Fisher discovered Bikram Yoga, she fell in love with the practice for both its meditative and physically challenging aspects, changing her perspective on what it truly means to be healthy. It was this outlook that led her to believe that like-minded yoga participants would enjoy combining this healthy practice with the opportunity to bring support to struggling families and animals in Mexico. Thanks to her tireless commitment Destination:PEACE was born.
Katherine combined her background in business and sales with her passion for Yoga and has committed herself full time to build, organize and promote Destination:PEACE – a volunteer vacation program that brings funding to non-profits in Mexico while allowing volunteers to serve the local community and fulfill their own vacation and inspirational needs. She hopes to see Destination:PEACE grow from infancy to maturity and become self sustainable.
Katherine’s Favorite Quotes
Molly is a philanthropic entrepreneur who is in the business of positive change, empowerment, and social justice. Since 1999, she has lived in Mexico and dedicated herself fully to implementing appropriate and sustainable programs to serve the needs of local communities.
In 2005, Molly formally organized and founded PEACE, a non-profit organization focused on Protection, Education, Animals, Culture, and Environment. In four short years PEACE has grown to a major organization in the Puerta Vallarta region – in 2008 alone more than 450 students participated in after school programs, over 3,500 animals received medical attention, 40 women earned a living through the artesian program, and 550 students took part in environmental education projects… and the list goes on.
Molly serves PEACE as the Executive Director and continues to grow and build the organization every day, constantly striving for sustainability to ensure that these successful programs will continue long into the future.
