The System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF) is the public body in charge of implementing, applying and giving dimension to public policies in the field of social assistance.
The National DIF System (SNDIF) has its first antecedent in the Drop of Milk Program, which in 1929 brought together a sector of Mexican women concerned about feeding children on the outskirts of Mexico City.
From Gota de Leche, the National Association for the Protection of Children was formed, which began to receive support from the National Lottery for Public Charity.
On January 31, 1961, based on school breakfasts, the decentralized agency National Institute for the Protection of Children (INPI) was created by Presidential Decree, which generated a social attitude of great sympathy and support towards children.
On July 15, 1968, the Mexican Institution for Assistance to Children (IMAN) was created, also by Presidential Decree, which was oriented to the care of orphaned, abandoned, destitute, disabled or with certain diseases. Later, in the seventies, the Mexican Institute for Children and the Family was created.
This is how in 1977 the National System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family was created by Presidential Decree, from the merger of the Mexican Institute for Children and the Family (IMPI) with the Mexican Institution for Child Assistance (MAGNET).
On March 29, 1977, the State System for the Integral Development of the Family was created in the State of Nayarit, at the initiative of Colonel J. Rogelio Flores Curiel, Constitutional Governor of the State at that time. Later, on November 1, 1986, the Law on the State Social Assistance System was created, chaired and directed by the System for the Integral Development of the Family in Nayarit.
Currently, the constant evolution of the population's pace of life has led to a pattern of constant change. For this reason, DIF's actions are oriented towards human development, which improves the quality of life of Nayarit families and generates a culture of self-management and development, which will allow them to solve their own needs and significantly reduce assistance.
