Due to limited resources, many students in Latin America only attend school for half a day. The Barrio Planta Project (BPP) provides free supplementary schooling to the children of Latin America with the goal to give them positive recreation and supervised structure during the other half of their day.
We believe that Creativity, Confidence, Communication, and Critical Thinking skills are essential abilities and will help our students lead happy, healthy and productive lives.
We envision a world where local communities are able to leverage dynamic, emerging industries into economic and educational opportunities for their children, youth, and families.
BPP empowers children and youth in Latin America by providing supplementary schooling that instills creativity, enhances confidence, facilitates international communication, and develops critical thinking skills.
We believe that access to high-quality, relevant educational opportunities from early childhood throughout adulthood is a human right.
We empower others to achieve their own goals at their own pace with respect for their culture and individuality, and with consideration of the resources available to them.
We do not consider any single human life to be more valuable than another. We acknowledge that societal inequities disproportionately impact some groups of people more than others and are dedicated to providing opportunities that mitigate this injustice.
Where We Teach
The Culture House, known locally as La Escuela Integral is San Juan del Sur's only Community Center. While occupied largely by BPP, the community center is also home to a Spanish School, a Chiropractor, a Traditional Folklore Dance group and is adjacent to a Community Sports Park. We also now have two more locations: one in Escamequita, Nicaragua and our most recent addition in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
