There has been an increase in the number of dengue cases, with nine confirmed cases in the region during the first three weeks of January.
Of the cases confirmed up to January 22nd in the North Coast region, seven correspond to Puerto Vallarta and two to Tomatlan, with no reports so far in Cabo Corrientes.
According to figures from the Aguas con el Dengue website of the Jalisco Ministry of Health (SSJ) at the end of the third epidemiological week of 2024, there were 20 confirmed cases in the state as of January 22nd.
This had been warned by health authorities due to the circulation of four dengue serotypes in the country.
In the VIII Sanitary Region, headquartered in Puerto Vallarta, there is already an increase, after the first confirmed case in the second epidemiological week in this municipality, the number of confirmed cases has risen to seven, with the first two cases in the coastal municipality of Tomatlan being added in the last official SSJ report.
In anticipation of this increase, in the VIII Sanitary Region, preventive strategies and actions are being carried out to avoid deaths from dengue fever, and there have been no deaths from this disease in Jalisco so far this year.
In the eighth sanitary region, there are days of "descacharrización" and elimination of household breeding sites, in addition to the permanent implementation of the campaign with the strategy of "Wash, Cover, Turn Over and Throw Away."
