|The Charros (the little guy steels my heart every time)|
Everyone had a blast at the Amigos de La Cruz Funanza Fundraiser last week.
Starting with tantalizing tunes from Lobo, to the Charros (the little guy steels my heart every time), the Mariachis and ending up with Philo and The Mexican Shuffle Band, the place was rocking.
Throw in 28 (yes, 28) amazing raffle prizes and some of the best ribs I’ve eaten in a long time and I’d say the Funanza was a smashing success. A success to the tune of 28,200 + pesos which will be used to support the Amigos many programs including recycling, street cleaning, and help to our local schools!
A big thank you to Sherry Jacobs, Joan Gil, Karen Cope, Judy & Joe Dell’Aira, Karen Gaebler, Duncan Randall, Cindy Bouchard, and Judith Gimeno for ticket, raffle and t-shirt sales and a really big thanks to Holly Stack, who donated her time and energy soothing the backs and shoulders of 9 happy partiers and donated all 900 pesos to the Amigos. Please come back next year Holly!
I feel like I’m at the Oscar’s here, but the vendors who once again donated drinks, meals and services for the raffle deserve mention too. These vendors have given to us, as well as so many other organizations, time and time again and have earned our heartfelt gratitude and support. Charlie’s Place, Enrique’s Glorietta, Ikuai Sailor Pub, Oso’s Oyster Bar, Philo’s, Angel’s Car Wash, Protrero de Chavez, Tu Pollo, Compu Electronica, Taller Mechanico La Cruz, Roberto’s Xocolatl, Black Forest, Ya Ya’s, Liko’s Salon, Wave House Hikes (April Johnson), Punta de Mita Paddle Surf (Jim Keil), Huanacaxtle Sports Bar, Massage by Hemma, Flamingos Sports Club, Marakame Veterinary, Falconi Pizza, Frascati, A Hand in the Kitchen and thanks to our Bucerias Amigos Jim and Marilyn Moxin for the gorgeous placemats.
These vendors and so many others (don’t worry, if we didn’t get to you this time, we’ll get to you the next time around) are so beneficial to making our fundraisers a success – thank you to all.
If anyone has photos and would like to share them, please let me know – my camera went on the blink! It would be great if you send any photos you might have from the event to Jennifer.
