YOU can open your home to a Christmas Kitten this Holiday Season!  PuRR has found homes for more than 150 felines and saved the lives of literally HUNDREDS more.

We are proud of our successes...one feline at a time.

Our team includes you.

The Holiday Season is here - a time of Giving! The time of year when we remember those less fortunate than we are. A time when we give because we know when we do, we make a difference. We remember the homeless animals on the streets that suffer on a daily basis, many here in the Puerto Vallarta area...the same area where we at PuRR Project step in to stop the suffering - and save lives!

Our shelter has been extremely successful over the last 2 years...thanks to YOU! We are proud to announce that our feline adoptions have now topped the 150 mark. Imagine all of them now in their Forever Homes throughout Mexico, the States and Canada! We have a fabulous group of volunteers who make adoptions happen every single week...dedicated and loyal volunteers.

We have several veterinarians who continue to give of their time and expertise...from local vets, to several who have come to donate their time from as far away as Toronto. Each member of our team - from vets, to volunteers - and everything in-between - are an integral part of our success.

And that especially includes YOU who make monetary donations so we can save more lives. YOU make a difference. We received a Christmas donation last week from a family who adopted a kitten from us a year ago. They donated, in the name of their PuRR kitten, with a message to the other cats at PuRR Project assuring them that they are being remembered. We hope you find it in your heart to remember us, too, this Holiday Season.

To make a donation now, go to our website  and click on DONATE. Donations are made through Paypal. Or, you can email us at info@purrproject.com for more information.

Adoptions:

Adoptions have been slow at the Farmer's Market so far but we had our FIRST adoption last week. A young lady & her brother were obviously taken with a young calico named Bela and after several stops at the booth to play with her, finally brought Dad over for a peek. Fortunately he also fell for her and after a quick call to Mom for the A-Okay, the family left the Market with a new kitty kat!! Friday at Plaza Marina was also a lucky day for Freckles and Cristobal who went home together with a nice family who had come to choose a new pet and left with TWO. Remember we are at the Farmer's Market in the Community Center on Pulpito every Saturday from 10 – 2 and at Plaza Marina in front of Comercial Mexicana every Friday from 10 - 1 pm...always with a selection of ready-to-adopt kittens.

If you would like to see some of our dozens of adoptable felines, contact us at visit@purrproject.com to sign up for a Shelter Tour. Or look for us at the SATURDAY MARKET at the Paradise Community Center on Pulpito in Old Town from 10 to 2!

Volunteering:

We love it when our adoptive families return to Vallarta and volunteer to spend time at the shelter or support or other fund-raising activities. Thomas Fitzgerald and Dani Lee Parker of Colorado did just that in November. Tom reports: Thanks so much for arranging our visit to the cat shelter two weeks ago. Erin, Jim, Judy, Jill, Danette & I had a marvelous time mingling with lots & lots of beautiful, loving cats & kittens. You all have created an amazing environment for these cats, and done an enormous good deed. Bravo!

We also enjoyed the fashion show at El Dorado, which was my FIRST fashion show ever. Everything was just beautiful. I loved the lunch and the fashion show was really quite fun. We also had a nice time at the Farmers Market, hanging out with Marilyn & Livia. Sorry, we didn't inspire any cat adoptions. Maybe next time. Best wishes for a happy, happy holiday season!

Want to volunteer? If you are interested in this very rewarding experience, contact adoption coordinator Linda "Bama" Brasseal at lbrasseal@yahoo.com. There are many ways in which you can volunteer.

News flash!!

It's time to do some Fall-cleaning in your closet and help benefit PuRR at the same time! Kathleen Palmer of Deja New Consignment Shops has a fabulous way for you to painlessly donate to PuRR. She has created a PuRR Project account at her shops so that YOU can donate your clothing and once it sells, the kitties receive a portion of the proceeds.

And wait!!! If you take your consignments to the new store before 31 December, you will be entered into a free drawing for a 75-minute Balanced Massage at Art Piel, worth 600 pesos. Check it out at Deja New Too at 350 Viena in Colonia Versalles.

Another news flash!!

Thanks to volunteer Erin Jones, we now have our very own PuRR Project T-shirts for sale, just in time for Christmas!! Come by the Farmer's Market at the Community Center in Old Town and choose one in white, pink, green or black (all sizes)...but hurry! They are selling like hotcats!! We also have fabulous note cards and Christmas Greeting Cards featuring star volunteer Jim Pappa's photos of our favorite shelter cats. Plus lots of other cat goodies.
