Of course there are many more reasons to visit Sayulita, Nayarit, but we managed to cram 30 of these into three short minutes for your viewing pleasure. (realmediatravel)

Many people often ask, "where is Sayulita?" Only an hour north of Puerto Vallarta and nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Occidental (Sierra Madre meaning mother range) is the charming village of Sayulita.

Sayulita is surrounded by lush jungle, beautiful beaches and has become the heart and soul of the Riviera Nayarit. In the 1940's Sayulita was a small fishing village, by the 60's the surfers discovered this fabulous spot and have "put in on the map."

Sayulita has become a mecca for surfers of all levels, but the truth is, Sayulita is more than a surfers heaven. It is a paradise that offers something for everyone. Sayulita still has that small town laid back feeling with its cobblestone streets, winding dirt roads and colorful buildings.

There is a kind of quaintness that makes you feel relaxed, comfortable and ready to enjoy the flavor of Mexico. Perhaps this is why Sayulita has become one of Mexico's finest gems, and unlike any other beach towns in the Riviera Nayarit.

Sayulita offers a full variety of activities from surfing, swimming, snorkling, sailing, whale watching, jungle canopy tours, horseback riding, or simply sitting back, sipping a margarita and enjoying a spectacular sunset. The coastline is bordered by rocky jungle cliffs that make those sunsets even more breathtaking.

There are beaches sprinkled all along the coast, so besides enjoying Sayulita's main beach, there are smaller beaches great for swimming. A couple of the favorites are Playa de los Muertos and Playa Carricitos. These can be reached by a short hike from the center of town.

Sayulita's busy streets are filled with vendors selling their wares. You will find anything and everything from blankets, hats, clothes, jewelry to the beautiful and colorful art created by the Huichol indians, indigenous to this area.

The town has become an international destination, entertaining travelers with a full variety of boutiques, art galleries and restaurants. Whether it is a delicious taco from one of the many stands that line the street corners, fresh fish and seafood caught daily, or a fine dining experience, Sayulita offers it all.

Weddings in Sayulita have become a popular choice for couples deciding to tie the knot. In fact, Reuters named Nayarit as one of the top 10 places around the world to get married. When wedding season is in full bloom, fireworks often light the evening skies.

Sayulita is a perfect place to say "I do" with an abundance of venues to choose from including wedding planners, photographers, large villas, caterers, and picturesque beach front settings or palapas perched up on hill tops overlooking the entire village and ocean.

Weddings in Sayulita can be customized to be quaint and modest and all the way up to extravagant.
