June Happenings In and Around Puerto Vallarta

Barbara Peters - Galeria Vallarta
June 3, 2013

Our weather has been so wonderful during May with much cooler temperatures than normal and we expect beautiful sunny days during June, ideal for outdoor weddings and activities.

Fishing is excellent now with fishermen reporting great catches.

Summer is a great time to visit Puerto Vallarta as the rainy season usually does not start until July, and then the rains occur mostly in the late afternoon or at night, bringing refreshing cool breezes from the mountains, and we always have the breeze from the sea during the day.

There are plenty of activities to enjoy and you can find great shopping values. The visitors to Nuevo Vallarta should consider taking an ATM bus into Vallarta to spend the day, since taxi rates are very expensive from there and there is very little shopping out there. Most hotels are all-inclusive, so their guests miss the experience of the ambience of Puerto Vallarta and the fabulous array of cuisine at the great restaurants here in Vallarta.

During the month of June, ExPats in Vallarta will be having Happy Hour gatherings at Langostino's on June 4th & 18th, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, plus a Wine and Appetizer evening on the 14th. There are no membership fees or requirements, it's just a great way to meet new friends and get out and enjoy Vallarta. For reservations and information, email sarajwise@yahoo.com.

The International Friendship Club is offering discount memberships during June for 200 pesos through December. They have many restaurants and businesses who offer members 10 to 15% discounts when you show your card.

It is a great time to visit the Vallarta Botanical Gardens to see the wonderful array of rare plants, orchids and tour the extensive grounds or enjoy their restaurant. You can take a bus or drive along the scenic highway to the south.

Don`t forget FATHER´S DAY THIS MONTH. and treat Dad to a meal at one of our great restaurants or find a unique gift at one of our local shops in downtown Vallarta, which you will find online at Vallarta Shopping.

The 9th edition of the Texas Music Festival will take place on June 11 to 18 in Nuevo Vallarta at the Marival Resort & Suites and at the Marival Residences & World Spa. The Tejas Brothers, Mark David Manders, Max & Heather Stalling from Blacktop Gypsy, Matt Hillyer & Jordan Hendrix from Eleven Hundred Springs and Texas Daze are some of the performing artists this year. Two beach parties with these bands, performances every night, a Texan gastronomy event directly from the restaurant "Love and War in Texas," and lots of fun await tourists visiting this summer. The event is free for guests of Marival Resorts & Suite and Marival Residences & World Spa, and it’s also open to the public and will be available through at $50 USD Night Pass, which will grant them access to the hotel and its entertainment centers between 18:00 and 24:00 hrs., or through a $25 USD Drink Pass, which will allow them to enjoy the show for 3 hours.

Puerto Vallarta will be featured on House Hunters International on HGTV on June 6th, by Timothy Real Estate Group.

Save the date of Wednesday, June 12, for a ONE NIGHT ONLY Private Art Collection Estate Sale and Silent Auction at Galeria Vallarta, upstairs at Guerrero 187. You will have the opportunity for exceptional values on famous artists such as Rufino Tamayo, Jose Luis Cuevas, Manuel Felguerez, Daniel Kent, Leoncio Villanueva, Adrian Tavera, Tellosa, Patrick Nagel, Artigas, Benito Zamora, Raul Anguiano and many more. 5:00 to 9:00 pm, refreshments will be served.

Join us on Saturday, June 22 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm to celebrate the birthday of Barbara Peters at Galeria Vallarta, Guerrero 187, upstairs, between Juarez and Morelos, downtown. For more information, telephone (322) 222-5125. There will be music and refreshments.

The Saturday morning market at Paradise Community Center will continue all summer, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm inside the palapa located on Pulpito 127, just up the street from La Palapa and Eldorado/DeSantos restaurants, across the street from Coco´s Kitchen,  close to all the condos and hotels in the Olas Altas area. You can find all kinds of specialty foods, breads, pastries, crafts, hand made painted and embroidered clothing, handbags, organic products, specialty soaps, unique T shirts, unusual jewelry, smoked meat, chicken, fish and cheese, dill pickles, pickled beets, sauerkraut, handcrafted dolls, and more. Be cool and shaded, with ceiling fans while you shop or sit down to enjoy the cuisine, or browse the book exchange. This is a great place to meet friends and network. Tell your friends who may be visiting Vallarta this summer to be sure to visit the Paradise market.

The markets at the Marina, La Cruz and Bucerias have closed until October, but the Farmer´s market on Basilio Badillo is continuing with some vendors through July.
