Due to the interest of the municipal authorities that Puerto Vallarta is an inclusive destination, through the Municipal Council for Disability (Comudis) and the System for Integral Family Development (DIF), a module has been installed on the Malecon to provide wheelchairs, walkers and mobility equipment to individuals in need.

In addition to supplying walking aids to the citizens and tourists of Vallarta, this booth also sells handicrafts made in local workshops by our disabled, giving them an opportunity to earn an income.

The mobility equipment makes it possible for those with disabilities to enjoy touring the Puerto Vallarta Malecon.

Alonso Bravo Amaral, head of Comudis, said that with the summer holiday period, more tourists are visiting our port and along with them are those who have a disability.

He added that it was important for all to realize that Puerto Vallarta welcomes all visitors in making our city accessible for all.

The wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches are provided with the signing of a letter of commitment and photo ID and can be used for up to four hours.

The module was installed on the Puerto Vallarta Malecon last week and will remain until the last Sunday of the holiday period.

Alonso Bravo Amaral also invites those with disabilities to participate in the workshops that are held at Comudis where the handicrafts are then sold at the Saturday flea market in the Santa Maria colony and also at the booth on the Malecon. Telephone for Comundis Vallarta is (322) 221-3200 and email is comudisvallarta@gmail.com.

Next time you're on the Puerto Vallarta Malecon, stop by and check out the handicrafts and help support our local citizens with disabilities.
