It was an atmosphere of joy and appreciation when the Rotary Club Puerto Vallarta South visited the Atemajac Valley University Campus Puerto Vallarta (PV Univa).
The Rotarians were joined by University staff, students and family members in the cafeteria area where the ceremony took place.
Rotary President, Saul Lopez Orozco, led the proceedings where 100 scholarships were given to deserving students.
Orozco reminded the audience that the scholarships were only awarded to hard-working students with averages above nine and those that don't reach that figure are not eligible for the award. Likewise, if the students that receive the scholarships fall below the nine average, they will be replaced by one of the 200 applicants on the waiting list, thus giving the beneficiaries the goal of maintaining their grade averages.
As part of the celebration ceremony, teacher Luis Ignacio Zúñiga Bobadilla proudly received the donation of the upright shiny black Rosenthal piano valued at 27,000 pesos from the Sweet group, who work closely with the Rotary Club. Sweet is an organization that works directly with non-profits in performing community service projects.
To finish off the festivities, the Director of the University Orchestra, teacher Irving Flores Chala, delighted the Rotarians with a mini-concert on the new piano.
