Cirque La Loupiote at VYC
Richard Williams - Vallarta Yacht Club
March 1, 2012
The French cruising family that bills themselves as "Cirque La Loupiote" returns to Banderas Bay and will perform on the docks at Paradise Village adjacent to the Vallarta Yacht Club in Nuevo Vallarta.
Yacht Club members and the General Public are invited to come to the Vallarta Yacht Club on Saturday, March 3, and view a free show of some pretty incredible acrobatics performed in the rigging of a sailboat (the performers will "pass the hat" afterwards as this is how they finance their cruising.)
The show consists of 2 acts, the first act will take place at 5:30 pm and the second act will start at 7:30 pm.
In the break between the two acts the Yacht Club will offer a pasta buffet with 3 choices of pasta, salads and dessert. The cost for the buffet will be 250 pesos for club members and sponsored guests and 300 pesos for non-members.
After having performed in France, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, the Caribbean Islands, Eastern Canada, Bermudas, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, Hawaii and the West Coast of the United States, French acrobats Delphine and Franck pull into Nuevo Vallarta to present two unusual performances.
They created two silent productions initially for the Society of the old quays of Montreal (where the couple performed over 150 shows) inspired by circus, dance and theater on sailboat. They use the mast, boom, rigging and other parts of their sailboat as a stage on which they exhibit their acrobatic prowess.
Their first show, "The Sailors", inspired by Buster Keaton and silent films, is a parody of navigational maneuvers that pokes fun at the mishaps of maladroit navigators.
The second show, "Between Wing and Island", deals with male-female relationships in a spectacle of aerial choreography and acrobatics in a duet that ranges from love, humor and poetry to earth, sea and sky.
The shows are suitable for audiences of all ages and last 20 minutes each. They are free, but the artists are not paid for their work and invite the public to make donations to help them and their two kids continue their great adventure around the world.
