Becas Ball Supports Scholarship Programs

Polly G. Vicars - Becas Vallarta
March 2, 2012

This social event of the season on March 9, 2012, is going to be better than ever with a Spanish theme and the setting on the shores of the beautiful Bahia de Banderas at the Club Regina in the Marina.

We are suggesting a dress code of red, black or white, if possible, which will make a gorgeous array of color to add to this beautiful site.

Los Bambinos will play and sing for the cocktail hour which begins at 6:30 pm.

This will be followed by a fabulous sit down dinner with wine and entertainment by Odisea from Ciudad Guzman. After dinner, this versatile band will play for your dancing pleasure with many surprises during the evening.

Founder Professor Enrique Barrios Limón of Xiutla Folkloric Ballet has just confirmed that his fabulous troop of dancers will perform their incredible Bolero De Rabel at the Becas Ball.

For those who don't know about Professor Barrios now famous group, Xiutla was the first name of Vallarta and means, in Náhuatl, "the place where the vegetation grows."

Since 1994 Professor Barrios has been inspiring and teaching local girls and boys to learn the folkloric dances of Mexico. These dedicated young people, from only 30 in the first year, have grown to hundreds now. They have traveled Mexico, the United States, Canada and Europe with great acclamation. Becas Ball goers will be treated to a performance fit for royalty.

There will be door prizes, gift bags being prepared by Marcelo Mica Pilates and Timothy Real Estate Group and a Silent Auction with art from Vallarta's best including Ada Colorina and Marta Gilbert, jewelry from Cassandra Shaw and June Rosen, dinner from Vallarta's 5 star restaurants and much, much more.

Tickets are only $100 US or 1200 pesos and must be purchased in advance. Tables of 10 can be reserved when you have at least 8 paid tickets. You can get your tickets from any member of Becas. You can also reserve tickets at 223-1371 or 044-322-182-0215 or email Polly Vicars at phvicars@gmail.com.

The event is expected to continue until 12:30 am, located in the Marina at the Raintree's Club Regina (next to the Westin). There is very little parking so our suggestion is that taxi is the best way to arrive.

A reminder that the entire event from the 6:30 cocktail hour through the sit down dinner will be on the shores of the Bahia de Banderas, so ladies, a shawl or jacket is in order.

Members are working very hard to make this a very special occasion and look forward to seeing all of you.

This is Becas Vallarta's major fundraiser which we hope will ensure that we can keep our almost 400 of Vallarta's brightest and best young people in school pursuing their educational dreams. That is where you and we come in. Come, eat, drink and make merry while actually changing the entire life of a young person who may one day be the Mayor of Puerto Vallarta or perhaps the President of Mexico!
