Following is just an overview of all the events and festivities happening this week in Vallarta-Nayarit.

La Penita Tropical Charro Carnival - Monday & Tuesday 
    
After nearly 40 years of partying this Carnival seeks to keep our traditions alive while offering an enticing attraction for residents and both national and international visitors.
 
La Peñita de Jaltemba is ending the month of February on a high note and starting March off with a bang with its 2014 La Peñita Tropical Charro Carnival, which starts on the last day of the month and runs through the 4th of March.

This Carnival is quite special thanks to its unique combination of attractions — this coastal village is known for its love of the traditional charrería, or Mexican rodeo, and the way it truly enjoys and appreciates beauty of its tropical surroundings.

Blond Gypsies at Paradise Community Center - Wednesday
    
The Blond Gypsies will hit the Paradise Community Center stage in Old Town Vallarta on March 5 at 8:00 pm.

Come early and enjoy the food court before the show, doors open at 6:30 pm.

The Blond Gypsies, Latcho & Andrea, are European recording artist's that perform Gypsy Rumba & Flamenco Guitar music, and have recorded nine albums and a DVD chronicling their career.

Having performed internationally, their wild, untamed Gipsy style has been compared to The Gypsy Kings, Ottmar Liebert, Jesse Cook, Manitas De Plata and Willie & Lobo.

Simply Barbra at the Palm - Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday
    
Steven Brinberg is an acclaimed vocalist and impressionist who is best known for being the premier impersonator of music legend Barbra Streisand. He literally appears to transform into Barbra, both physically and vocally, in an extraordinary musical experience.

Steven is thrilled to be appearing in Puerto Vallarta at The Palm with the talented John D. Randall, who accompanies him at the piano. Performances of Simply Barbra will run through March 8th with 7:30 and 9:30 pm shows.

Still Having Fun at Page in the Sun - Thursday
    
Lindsey and Gaby of the popular Page in the Sun book store, coffee shop and eatery are proud to present Candace George Thompson in her book reading and discussion of "Still Having Fun, a Portrait of the Military Marriage of Rex and Bettie George, 1941-2007."

Air Force Brat Candace George Thompson is the daughter of a career Air Force Officer whose first mission was on D-Day, June 6, 1944. She was born in Kentucky, as were both her parents, and like most service families, hers moved frequently. By the time she started 10th grade, she had changed schools 13 times.

She will be the guest star at Page in the Sun on Thursday, March 6, at 6:00 pm.
    
Just Desserts Who-Dun-It in La Cruz - Thursday & Friday
    
With a star-studded local cast and crew, this comedic who-dun-it is sure to fill the audience with food and drink, laughter and intrigue.

Even better – we’re giving you 4 opportunities to join in the fun.

Just Desserts will be presented on Thursday and Friday, March 6 and 7 and on Thursday and Friday, March 13 and 14, at Octopus’s Garden on Calle Coral in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.

The evening starts at 6:30 in the tranquil downstairs garden with a dinner of Aztec Soup, your choice of Braised Chicken Breast with Poblano Sauce OR Spinach Quiche with Salad and your choice of one red or white wine, one beer (XX Lager, XX Amber), a Piña  Colada or a Margarita.

Mass Appeal at The Boutique - Thursday through Sunday 
    
Edoardo and Michael of Nu Name Productions are excited and proud to announce this seasons "must see" theater event, Mass Appeal, by Bill C. Davis.

Mass Appeal will open at The Boutique in Puerto Vallarta on Friday, February 21, 2014, with additional show dates on February 22, 23, 27 & 28. You can also catch the show on March 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 and 9.  All shows begin at 8:00 pm except the Sunday productions which will be at 5:00 pm.

PV Birding Festival - Thursday through Sunday 
    
The Banderas Bay Region is home to over 300 species of different birds and will be the site this March 6 through 9 for the Puerto Vallarta International Birding Festival.

The Festival is hosted by the Vallarta Bird Conservancy and will kick off on March 6 at the Vallarta Botanical Gardens. Four action packed days of birding and nature walks with expert guides in unique habitats will be sure to satisfy even the most advanced birders, and lectures from local and international authorities on many interesting bird and birding related topics will round out the festival.

Cheerleader Championship at Hard Rock - Friday through Sunday 
    
Cheerleader teams from all over Mexico will participate at the National Cheerleading Competition 2014, where the best athletes in this sport will do their thing before a panel of international judges on March 7-9 at the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta.

The competition will attract some of the most renowned experts in Mexico and will also have a panel of international judges from prestigious organizations like Varsity and ICU. There will also be specialized workshops running in parallel with the main event.

Punta Sayulita SUP & Surf Classic - Friday through Sunday
    
With the generous support again of all our sponsors including presenting sponsor the Riviera Nayarit Tourism Board, the 5th Annual Punta Sayulita Classic is set for March 7 – 9, 2014.

Benefitting the Reef Check and Punta Sayulita Foundations, the top surfers and stand-up paddlers (SUP) in the world are set to return to Sayulita to compete in surfing contests as well as in exciting offshore SUP races.
