March 31, 2014

Following is just an overview of all the events and festivities happening this week in Vallarta-Nayarit.

International Film Fest at CUCosta - Monday through Friday
After a five year hibernation, the 14th International Film Festival (FICPV) continues in Puerto Vallarta through April 4 at University of Guadalajara Centro Universitario de la Costa (CUCosta).

Admission is free for the Film Fest and will include a sampling of short films, screenings of renowned international directors, and the presentation of "Huston" given by Irish scenario writer Jim Sheridan.

Screening of Forks over Knives - Tuesday
As part of the 4th Annual Every Tuesday Night Film Series, Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad in Puerto Vallarta will screen 'Forks over Knives' on April 1, 2014 at 7:00 pm. Venue will be Paradise Community Center in Old Town Vallarta.

Gates open at 6:00 pm and all films begin at 7:00 pm.

Weeding & Planting in Old Town - Tuesday

As the time draws closer to our Bugambilia Festival from May 9 - 11, join the Vallarta Garden Club in a series of volunteer efforts in cleaning up different areas of PV.

On April 1, we will be concentrating on weeding and planting in Old Town Vallarta.

We'll meet at 9:00 am in Old Town at the corner of Basilio Badillo and Vallarta streets and will be working in the Zona Romantica area.

PuRR Project Bingo Finale for the Season - Wednesday

Join us on Wednesday, April 2, and help us celebrate the end of a very successful season of PuRR Project Bingo.

Thanks to great entertainers, generous prize donors, our hosts at Margarita Grill and, most of all, our faithful players, we've raised plentiful pesos to get us through the long summer months at our shelter.

We have some great prizes left to give out, our famous multiple-pull 50/50 raffle...and Margarita Grill's food and drink specials just for us Bingo players.

Get there early for a good seat ~ tickets go on sale at 4:30 pm and the fun starts at 5:00.

The Wizard of Oz at American School - Thursday, Friday & Saturday
The American School of Puerto Vallarta proudly presents The Wizard of Oz!

We are very excited to present this musical classic that has inspired generations and hasn't been presented at the American School in over 10 years.

The students and staff invite you to the American School Theatre on April 3 - 5 at 7:30 pm. General admission is 100 pesos and children under 12 is 50 pesos.

This will be a slightly different take on the classic tale - there will be narrators telling the story and characters will sometimes break the "fourth wall." The audience will be asked to participate in some parts of the story - making storm sounds for the tornado, spooky sounds for the haunted forest, etc.

Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic - Thursday through Sunday
The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, in conjunction with DINE, the developer of Punta Mita Resorts, and Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau are pleased to announce the fourth annual American Express Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic, sponsored by Aeromexico and Delta Airlines, taking place April 3-6, 2014.

During this unparalleled four-day extravaganza, Punta Mita, in the Riviera Nayarit, will once again be transformed into a culinary and golf mecca as esteemed chefs, wine experts, and epicurean personalities congregate to showcase their exceptional talents while guests compete on the property’s prestigious Jack Nicklaus golf courses.

Alberto Mejia in Concert at Palm Caberet - Sunday
Popular Vallarta crooner and actor, Alberto Mejia, returns to The Palm Cabaret and Bar this season, in association with UNDA Productions, with a run of his own show.

This is the final concert of the season at the Palm Cabaret for Alberto Mejia on April 6 at 7:30 pm.

Alberto is known for his smooth vocals and suave stage presence and the ladies, gents, locals, and tourists love him equally.
