Following is just an overview of all the events and festivities happening this week in Vallarta-Nayarit.
Democrats Abroad Screening of "The Impossible" - Tuesday
As part of the 4th Annual Every Tuesday Night Film Series, Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad in Puerto Vallarta will screen 'The Impossible' on April 15, 2014 at 7:00 pm.
Venue will be Paradise Community Center in Old Town Vallarta.
Gates open at 5:30 pm and all films begin at 7:00 pm.
During the month of April, tickets are only available at the door for a donation of 60 pesos.
We invite moviegoers to come early to enjoy ordering from the food venders at the center. Food is available at 6:00 pm.
"The Street - An Evening Taco Adventure" - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday
Vallarta Food Tours (VFT) has done it again! Adding to its impressive repertoire of Food and Cultural Tours, VFT announces their newest tour, "The Street - An Evening Taco Adventure."
This walking tour (with a brief, fun bus ride) thoughtfully weaves its way through some of the most authentic and delicious local eateries in Emiliano Zapata and 5 de Diciembre neighborhoods, all the while teaching you about the people behind the carefully crafted, delicious food and the vibrant night culture of Puerto Vallarta. Mexico’s sophisticated flavors and wide variety of regional cooking styles are on full display on all of VFT’s tours, including their Original Downtown Tour, Taste of Pitillal and the new Street Taco Adventure. The focus is on family-owned businesses where true artistry is paramount and things are still made by hand.
Tours are offered throughout the year Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings from 7:00 - 10:00 pm.
Fandango at Teatro Vallarta - Wednesday
Beginning on April 9, Fandango will return to the Teatro Vallarta stage for Wednesday evening performances through May of 2014.
The amazing stage show Fandango brings together theater, dance and music in an international Mexican format with more than 40 dancers and musicians.
Fandango is an emotional show that fills us with pride for all of Mexico and it was created here in the state of Jalisco.
The Wednesday evening performances begin at 6:30 pm. Show dates are April 16, 23, 30 and May 7, 14, 21, 28.
Dr. Leslie Korn at Garden Club Meeting - Thursday
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Leslie Korn will be our guest speaker at the Puerto Vallarta Garden Club General Meeting on Thursday, April 17 at 11:00 am at Paradise Community Center.
Dr. Leslie Korn is author of "Rhythms of Recovery: Trauma, Nature, and the Body." Her topic will be "Traditional Healing and Medicinal Plants of Bahia de Banderas."
Luna Rumba at Paradise Community Center - Thursday
Luna Rumba is an world music group featuring Cheko Ruiz on Vocals and guitar, George "Geo" Uhrich on Violin, Mandolin and Guitars, and Carlos Mancilla on drums and percussion.
Their music is a fusion of Gypsy, Latin, Celtic, Flamenco, Middle Eastern and Rock, all spiced up with hot Rumba and Cuban rhythms. From beautiful, romantic ballads to fiery dance pulsations, the group delights a diverse audience with its infectious sounds.
All performances begin at 8:00 pm. Even after a couple hours of great music, you'll go away wanting to hear more of Luna Rumba, so they will have CD's available for purchase.
Come early. Doors open at 6:00 pm where you can enjoy a pre-show refreshment along with the amazing food court serving up everything from chicken to ribs to Thai food.
La Gorda at The Palm - Thursday, Friday and Saturday
Alex Sol, aka La Gorda, will make his Puerto Vallarta debut at The Palm Cabaret and Bar during Semana Santa 2014 (Easter Week) with three shows on April 17, 18 and 19 at 9:00 pm. Alex Sol is an actor, director and entertainer in film, television and in nightclub venues in Mexico City and his hometown of Cuernevaca.
In 2005, he created the character “La Gorda” and the show “La Gorda: Crazy, Funny Little Transvestite” which mixes drag artistry, clowning and theater. In Cuernavaca, Alex has entertained for 8 seasons in the “Enigma Bar Show” and has given personal appearances in almost all of Mexico. This performance will mark his debut in Puerto Vallarta at The Palm!
Farmers Market in La Cruz - Sunday
The Sunday Farmer's Market in La Cruz are in their fourth season with the market opening at 10:00 am.
This Artisan Products Market is held on the premises of Marina Rivera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.
More than a hundred producers of food, jewelry, textiles, handicrafts and art prints are ready with their wares in the beautiful Market setting by the sea, surrounded by palm trees, bougainvillea, live music and lots of good vibes.
