Even though the high season is winding down, there are still plenty of events and festivities happening this week in Vallarta-Nayarit.

Rodrigo Ballester Exhibit in San Pancho - Monday through Sunday

In step with its title of Cultural Capital of the Riviera Nayarit, San Pancho (aka San Francisco) is extending an invitation to view a new art exhibit to be displayed at Bodega 3, an exhibition space that recently opened its doors to presentations by artists not belonging to the San Pancho Collective.

The current expo is titled Cuaderno de artista: Guorquin proces, created by self-taught plastic artist Rodrigo Ballester, originally from Xalapa, Veracruz.

The inauguration of this particular gallery will be on April 30th at 8:00 pm, a date that falls on Mexico’s celebration of Children’s Day. The artwork produced by Ballester will occupy the entire Bodega 3 gallery floor in order to fully display his splendid pieces.

FIVB Beach Volleyball Open - Tuesday through Sunday
Puerto Vallarta, the Pacific Ocean resort city on Mexico’s west coast is preparing to host its first FIVB Beach Volleyball international event when the double-gender FIVB Puerto Vallarta Open is held May 6-11.

While it will be the first FIVB international event in Puerto Vallarta, it will be the fifth time the country has hosted a FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event.

It will be the second of six double-gender Open events on the 2014 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour schedule.

The games will be played on Camarones Beach (also known as Shrimp Beach), Downtown Puerto Vallarta just south of the Sheraton Hotel.

Spectator admission is free.

Sister City Gardens Celebrations - Wednesday
The Vallarta Botanical Gardens and Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens celebrate this relationship as “Sister Cities Gardens” through cross-promotion of their organizations and reciprocal entry offerings to their members. But this is only scratching the surface of the potential for how these gardens can cooperate for the mutual benefit of their communities and conservation efforts in their respective regions.

To further explore the opportunities for future projects between these gardens, Santa Barbara Botanic Garden Executive Director, Dr. Steven Windhager will visit the Vallarta Botanical Gardens on Wednesday May 7th.

Join us with complimentary entry to the Gardens by downloading the coupon.

Fandango at Teatro Vallarta - Wednesday
Fandango returns to the Teatro Vallarta stage for Wednesday evening performances through May of 2014.

The amazing stage show Fandango brings together theater, dance and music in an international Mexican format with more than 40 dancers and musicians.

Fandango is an emotional show that fills us with pride for all of Mexico and it was created here in the state of Jalisco.

The Wednesday evening performances begin at 6:30 pm. Show dates are May 7, 14, 21, 28.

Salsa Mambo Fest Nuevo Vallarta - Thursday through Sunday
The Salsa & Mambo Fest in Riviera Nayarit has the main objective of promoting art and culture in our tourist destination, seeking to involve all those who feel the same excitement for all the rhythms and dance expressions.

Riviera Nayarit and Marival Resorts & Suites Nuevo Vallarta are proud to host the 2014 Salsa & Mambo Fest to take place on May 8 - 11, 2014.

The concept of the festival is integral, full of dancing, shows, festivals, and, above all, fun!

Bugambilia Festival Celebrations - Friday through Sunday
The Second Annual Bugambilia Festival is just around the corner! And we hope you’ll be able to participate on May 9 - 11, 2014 in supporting the Vallarta Garden Club in making Puerto Vallarta the Bougainvillea Capital of the World.

On all three evenings of the Festival, there will be food vendors, local artists and special events at Parque Lazaro Cardenas. We hope you will also attend the Friday Welcome Cocktail Party and Sunday Brunch.

Cinderella at Teatro Vallarta - Saturday
Back by popular demand, enjoy a Saturday Matinee on May 10, 2014, 12:00 pm direct from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City while in Puerto Vallarta. Teatro Vallarta presents 'Live in HD' broadcasts with the complete schedule for the 2013-2014 season.

A peerless pair of Rossini virtuosos joins forces in La Cenerentola—a vocal tour de force for mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, singing her first Met performances of the Cinderella title role, and the high-flying tenor Juan Diego Flórez, as her Prince Charming. Alessandro Corbelli and Luca Pisaroni complete the cast, with Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi leading the effervescent score.

General admission is 250 pesos.
