go to original March 27, 2012 |
Here's a combination worth traveling for: gourmet food, wine, tequila, golf and a custom made putter.
That's exactly what will be happening on April 12-15 during the Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic, to be conducted at one of the most beautiful locations on earth, the Riviera Nayarit on the Mexican Pacific coast just south of Puerto Vallarta.
The hosts for this extravaganza are the St. Regis and Four Seasons Punta Mita as well as the two spectacular Jack Nicklaus golf courses that feature some of the best ocean views in the world. It's sponsored by the two hotels in conjunction with DINE, the developers of Punta Mita, American Airlines, TaylorMade, and Riviera Nayarit Visitors and Convention Bureau.
The event marries the worlds of culinary excellence and great golf. Last year there was more than two dozen celebrated chefs, wine and tequila authorities.
The Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic will feature gourmet meals and cooking courses taught by distinguished chefs, a series of wine and tequila tastings, and festive gatherings at the luxurious St. Regis Punta Mita Resort and Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita.
The Punta Mita Cup, a two-day golf tournament on Jack Nicklaus' two signature courses Bahia and Pacifico. Every participant will be fitted for a custom putter by TaylorMade's professional staff. There will also be four chances over the two days to win a 2013 Audi car for a hole in one.
Led by Sylvain Desbois, executive chef of The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort and its AAA Five Diamond Carolina restaurant, and Philippe Piel, executive chef of Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita's four restaurants, a team of guest chefs from around the globe are confirmed to participate.
As a part of the four-day extravaganza, guests will play in The Punta Mita Cup on Friday in a team scramble format on Pacifico, and on Saturday in a two ball, best-ball format on Bahia with prizes for the winning team, hole in one, closest to the pin and longest drive, including collector's items like limited edition tequila and hotel stays, among other surprises.
The renowned Pacifico course, with eight holes directly facing or playing alongside the Pacific Ocean, features the "Tail of the Whale," an optional par-three hole and the world's only natural island green.
The Bahía course, Nicklaus' second championship course in Punta Mita, has six ocean holes and opened in late 2008.
The package includes three nights accommodations, daily breakfast, roundtrip airport transfers, opening cocktail, guest chef lunches and dinners, wine and tequila tastings, cooking classes, participation in the Punta Mita Cup and the custom fit TaylorMade putter to take home.
Rates begin at $1,390 US per person for a three-night stay based on double occupancy. Reservations can be made by calling (877) 250-8871 or by email at puntamita.butler@stregis.com.
