The Power of Plastic Amigos de Bucerias

The Power of Plastic/El Poder del Plastico is a multimedia program of education about plastic, society and environment in Mexico.

Taking inspiration from the Bucerias Recyclers project and other initiatives in Nayarit to collect plastic and clean up the environment, a national level education project is now being planned by media producer Caroline Webb.

It will provide a set of audiovisual materials and an interactive website that aims to help Mexico increase its level of plastic recycling and enhance the protection of its beautiful environment and wildlife.

The primary audience is school-children and materials will be designed for use by teachers with different age groups. The materials and website will also be of use to adults wanting to start recycling programs, learn more about plastic and its role in society, support actions to clean up the environment and explore innovative solutions to the general problem of capturing plastic from the waste stream and directing it towards new use through recycling and remanufacturing.

The project is seeking financial support to launch the pre-production research phase expected to require about 6 months of time and travel within Mexico. The pre-production work will be done by Producer Caroline Webb and a bilingual Mexican Assistant Producer.
