Thanks to the favorable geographical area where Puerto Vallarta is located, besides sun and beach, you can find a city surrounded by mountains and nature reserves that have managed to retain and which can now be traveled for the enjoyment of thousands of people.
An example is the Estero Salado, a Natural Protected Area in Jalisco, comprising a surface 169 hectares, of which approximately 135 correspond to mangrove vegetation and wetlands; the rest is made up by two medium forest remnants bordered by water and underwater vegetation, thorn forest and secondary vegetation.
The Salado houses over 100 species of birds, grouped 23 families, both aquatic and terrestrial habits. There have been over 29 amphibians and reptiles identified, among which you can find the green iguana, the iguana and the river crocodile, as well as 10 mammal species and a variety of invertebrates and fish, characteristic in mangrove areas.
Tours of the Estero Salado are led by a biologist on board the vessel "The Aventurer" and include walking about a kilometer ecosystem, where you can admire the great diversity of wildlife, mangrove species and their main characteristics. You can also climb the tower sighting to observe from above all the Protected Natural Area.
