Snuggled between the mountains and the ocean, Puerto Vallarta is more than sandy beaches, salty ocean water, seafood, and margaritas. The city is also full of charm, character, and interesting things to do that are off-the-tourist track.
Street Food Tour – Vallarta Eats is a company offering street food (taco) tours in the Old Town and for $55 per adult, it’s a fabulous deal. During your 3 hour tour you’ll eat at 9 taco stands, each one owned by families who have been in business for over 15 years. Groups are small (under 8 people per group).
Visit the Botanical Gardens – the Botanical Gardens are located south of the city and definitely worth a visit if you’re into flora and fauna, or if you’re looking for a great place to hike.
Go on a walking tour – Diana DeCosta has created ‘Power Walk the Hidden Streets of Puerto Vallarta’ and is a great option for anyone who loves walking, and discovering hidden gems that most tourist walk by without a second look.
Treat yourself to a Spa Treatment – A visit to Terra Noble Spa will take you into the hills of Puerto Vallarta and offers amazing views of the city and the ocean. A great place to go for a massage!
Sunset Yoga - take a sunset yoga class with davannayoga in the middle of Old Town Puerto Vallarta and enjoy a neighborhood that is full of character!
Rancho Manolo - located under the Mismaloya Bridge (just 12 kms south of Puerto Vallarta). Rancho Manolo offers horseback riding tours in the jungle, as well as a trip to a hidden restaurant and secluded swimming hole.
Take a Cooking Class – There are several cooking classes in Puerto Vallarta, but if you’re looking for a class that offers a personal touch, go with Arte Culinario with Mavi Graf. Mavi allows you to select which menu you’d like to learn, takes you to the market, then teaches you to make the dishes in her own kitchen. Once everything is cooked enjoy your meal with her fabulous ocean view.
