Mayor Javier Pelayo Méndez of Puerto Vallarta met with a group of 25 visually impaired people from countries such as Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Germany, Spain and Mexico, who arrived as a group to visit Puerto Vallarta.

Rebeca Rodriguez Ramirez, a member of the Association of Visually Impaired, was responsible for promoting this group's travel to Puerto Vallarta.

The trip was derived from the meeting held in the city of Guadalajara from 14 to 22 August where 101 visually impaired people from 14 countries took part in the Seventh Tifloencuentro event in Jalisco that promotes inclusive tourism in different destinations.

At the dinner, the Mayor greeted each of the participants and invited them to return to the municipality where they would always be welcomed with open arms. "Puerto Vallarta is happy to receive this group of happy, cheerful and positive people; They are the type of guests that Puerto Vallarta embraces. We are grateful that they have chosen this destination and hopefully they will return to visit us, we will be here to support them," he said.

The Mayor received thanks and positive comments about Puerto Vallarta in that each place they visited, they were welcomed by locals with support and assistance.

"Thanks for having us and we are greatly touched by the welcome by the Mayor. We are delighted with Vallarta, we have been treated very well, the willingness of people and that altruism is truly here. It moves me to tears and the experience was wonderful, we do not want to leave. The doors of our country, homes and hearts are always open to you," said Rosana Palacios, a visitor from Uruguay.

Rebeca Rodriguez stated that this is the first relatively large group of visually impaired people visiting the city and she hopes the news will get out to others around that world that Vallarta welcomes individuals or groups with disabilities. For example, the hotel where they stayed is handicap accessible and she added that she wished more hotels and restaurants would comply with this type of tourism. "We want Puerto Vallarta to be an inclusive, accessible city where a person with disabilities will visit and spread the word that needed services are available and that they will return."

The Mayor was thanked for providing the necessary support for the group's visit, "because without the efforts of the municipal government, the facilities at the hotel and the tour operators, this trip would not have been possible."

During the group's stay in Puerto Vallarta, they attended activities such as swimming with dolphins, canopy, boat tours, beaches, the Malecon, and the Church of Guadalupe, all accompanied by people describing each location in detail to them.
