Hi everyone,

I finally have slowly unburied myself from all the chores upon our return. As you know we took our Furlough/Sabbatical from June 30th until September 25th in the USA & Canada. A total of 8,300 miles of driving.

In our trip from Puerto Vallarta to Pendicton, Canada we visited not only family but many old and new friends we have met in Puerto Vallarta as they vacation. Many of those wonderful same people have shared our ministry work as volunteers at the orphanage or our other outreaches.

It was a long trip and due to age we will not drive again. It is just too hard on my back and hip that was damaged on the Highway Patrol.

We were able to collect many clothes, shoes and toys for the kids along the way. The Honda Pilot was full to the brim and we were a little concerned we would have to unload and reload at the border but God was once again shepherding us along the way. All in all it was a wonderful trip except for one small detour not of my making.

We ran into lots of smoke traveling both ways through California, Oregon, Washington and Canada due to forest fires. On the way back out of Canada I picked up a slight cough and didn't pay much attention to it. But by the time I reached our granddaughter's home in the California hills where the smoke was worse so was my cough.

Leaving there we traveled to Atascadero to visit our friends Linny & John Schock. As soon as we arrived I asked them to take me to Urgent Care where the PA (Physician Assistant) immediately sent me to the Templeton Hospital. I was diagnosed with the start of pneumonia after a chest x-ray and given a strong antibiotic and pain pills and sent on my way. Well that was only a start as 3 days later I had a terrible pain under my right breast and an ambulance transported me back to the same hospital where I was diagnosed with a large blood clot. I was put on morphine (whoppie) and after a half hour I was a very happy person as the pain initially was severe to say the least. I then received blood thinners and was released after 2 1/2 days from ICU. This all took place Sept. 1 to 3rd. I was finally sent back to John and Linny's home for rehabilitation. I was forbidden to drive for 7 to 10 days which messed up our schedule a little.

7 days later we drove to Oxnard and stayed with Dodie and Randy to recooperate some more, then on to my granddaughter in Las Vegas for some more rehab, then to Arizona to visit my daughter Jennifer and her husband and my granddaughter Lindsay.

Then across the border and home on Sept 25th. Boy was I tired, and so glad to be home in my own bed. But I want to thank all of you for your wonderful hospitality, meals, and comfort during our travels. What a core of wonderful Christians that took care of us as we traveled. May God bless you all abundently.

P.S. - All the clothes, shoes and toys have been personally delivered to the Casa Hogar Maximo Cornejo Quiroz Orphanage, Casa Hogar Compassion Home for Children, and the Banderas Bay Women's Shelter.

P.S.S. - A special thank you to Wayne and Dolores Mitchell for donating a totally rehabilitated computer out of the blue when I told them Silvia had just called me with a special request for a handicapped paralyzed teenager who needed a computer. Praise the Lord as He is good ALL THE TIME. It will be delivered next week when Silvia returns from her travels.

Love,
Dennis & Faye, Vaya con Dios mi Amigo
