Even though we are in the Summer season here in Puerto Vallarta, there are still plenty of events and activities going on to keep our locals and tourists occupied and having fun.

Book Market at the Cuale Cultural Center

Check out the Book Market  at the Cuale Cultural Center. Every Saturday at the Cuale Cultural Center, you can enjoy a book market to swap, buy and sell books.

The book market is installed at the entrance of the Rio Cuale on Insurgentes Street in Old Town Vallarta, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The primary objective of this market is to expand and promote options for the practice of reading among children, youth, adults and seniors.

Scavenger Hunt to Benefit Pasitos de Luz
From beach venders and four-legged animals to murals and landmarks, participating four-person teams will leave no clue unturned as they walk around Puerto Vallarta's Old Town on Saturday afternoon, July 21, from 1:00 to 7:00 pm for the inaugural community-wide Scavenger Hunt to benefit Pasitos de Luz, a local organization that treats children with disabilities.

Pre and post-hunt festivities take place at Nacho Daddy's Mex Tex Restaurant & Bar located at 180 Basilio Badillo in Old Town Vallarta.

Team entry is 500 pesos. Individuals are also encouraged to participate and will be assigned accordingly.

Release of Jaltemba the Turtle in Guayabitos

About two months ago, divers rescued a juvenile Hawksbill turtle off the Bay of Jaltemba. She came to be know as "Jaltemba."

Jaltemba had a hook embedded deep in her throat and has been recovering.

This endangered Hawksbill turtle has made a full recovery and will be released on Sunday, July 22, at 4:00 pm on the beach at Rincón de Guayabitos.

Jaltemba now has a computer chip so we can track her future migrations.

The Cat Returns at Cuale Auditorium

The cat returns is a Japanese movie directed by Hiroyuki Morita and produced by Studio Ghibli. 

The date is Saturday, July 21, 2012, at 12:00 noon at the Cuale Cultural Center Auditorium (Auditorio Centro Cultural Cuale), on the island in the center of the Rio Cuale.

Free Admission and you can bring your own popcorn and soda.

A Taste of La Cruz Food and Wine Fest
Enjoy a stroll through the newly renovated Plaza Benito Juarez and enjoy the people, the music, the food and atmosphere of the REAL Mexico, La Cruz style, on Saturday, July 21, from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.

A special highlight of this summer edition of A Taste of La Cruz, will be the option for wine sampling and a wine/food pairing offered by select restaurants.

In addition to the incredible local and international food offerings, artists and craftsmen of the Cooperativo Huanacaxtle will offer handmade arts & crafts from the local region, local businesses will be on hand to explain their services and La Cruz musicians will fill the night with tunes.

Wall Climbing Contest at Gold's Gym
Gold's Gym Puerto Vallarta will host the First Wall Climbing Contest, which consists of climbing the 3 faces of the wall as quickly as possible.

There will be two sessions on Friday, July 20, and Saturday 21, 2012, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Registration is 60 pesos for Gold's Gym Partners and 100 pesos for the general public.

Free Performances at Los Arcos Amphitheater
Los Arcos Amphitheater, or Aquiles Serdan Theater, is known for its four stone arches which have become a symbol of the city.

Here free performances are given nearly every night to the delight of locals and visitors.

On Sunday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, enjoy the music of the Municipal Band. There is Danzon Music in the main square from 7:00 to 8:00 pm and the Xiutla Dancers perform at the Los Arcos Amphitheater beginning at 8:00 pm.

Street venders offer an array of native food and artisans set up their wares for inspection.

Located at the south end of Downtown's Malecon, it is also a perfect spot to watch the sun set behind the natural arches of Los Arcos and beyond to the horizon of Banderas Bay.
