Following is just an overview of all the events and festivities happening this week in Vallarta-Nayarit.

Nightly Concerts at Cuates & Cuetes Leading to Spring Jazz Festival - Monday through Sunday

As a prelude leading up to the annual Spring Jazz Festival on Monday, March 21, there will be concerts nightly this week from 8:00 until 10:00 pm (unless noted otherwise) at the ever popular Cuates & Cuetes by the Los Muertos Pier in Old Town Vallarta.

Scheduled concerts include:
 
Monday, March 14: Los Corbi (Mexico) - Jazz
Tuesday, March 15: Agavezzound (Guadalajara) – Jazz, Electronica, Fusion
Wednesday, March 16: King David - Reggae, 7-9 pm; Tatewari (Nayarit) – Jazz, Flamenco, Fusion, 9-11 pm
Thursday, March 17: Paco Baraas (Vallarta) – Jazz, Latin, Bossa, Bolero
Friday, March 18: El Diabolito Trio (Chihuahua, Mexico City) — Jazz, Contemporary Funk
Saturday, March 19: Beverly & Willow (US, Gudalajara) - Traditional Jazz
Sunday, March 20: Faralae (Mexico) – Gypsy Jazz
Monday, March 21: GRAND FINALE: Spring Jazz Concert On the Beach (4-10 pm) with Moruno, Tatewari, El Diablito Trio, Paco Barajas, Faralae, Tito Rodriguez y Proyecto Montenegro, and more.

There is no cover charge for these events but food and drink is available from Cuates & Cuetes.

Ceviche & Aguachile Market at the Pier - Tuesday

Every Tuesday there is a Ceviche and Aguachile Market taking place on Francisca Rodriguez, the walk-street leading to the Los Muertos Pier in Old Town Puerto Vallarta.

Come and enjoy a variety of ceviche and aguachiles prepared by neighbors, merchants and restaurateurs of the region in this culinary and cultural weekly event.

Enjoy an amazing variety of culinary delights such as coconut shrimp ceviche and return each Tuesday throughout the season between 12:00 and 4:00 pm to sample all the delicious selections while being entertained by live music.

Mystical Evening Fundraiser - Tuesday

You are invited to join PuRR Project for a Mystical Evening at Daiquiri Dick's on Tuesday, March 15 at 6:00 pm.

Ask the Tarot Cards about your future, consult the I Ching about your current situation, have your caricature drawn - all while enjoying cocktails, fabulous hors d'oeuvres and a glorious Vallarta sunset!

Pre-St. Patrick American Legion Benefit Party - Wednesday

Murphy's Irish Pub on the Malecon is hosting a Pre-St. Patrick's Day Benefit Party on Wednesday, March 16 from 12:00 - 5:00 pm.

Cost is 250 pesos, which is good for a full menu of holiday offerings, including: corned beef & cabbage, shepherd's pie, fish & chips, mashed potatoes, garden salad and dessert. It also includes two domestic beers or two well drinks, or bottled water or house wine. A free bottle of vanilla also goes to each customer.

Live music will be going throughout the afternoon. There will also be a Donation Raffle and a 50-50 Drawing from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Torpedos, which is an American football team for kids, Beta Sigma Phi, a worldwide community service organization for women and a myriad of other American Legion charitable community projects.

Childrens Circus in San Pancho - Wednesday through Saturday

This is a unique and original project that has changed the lives of many children in the town of San Francisco (San Pancho), Riviera Nayarit.

"Camino de Hazaña" ("Path to Great Achievement") is a professional production featuring the talents and dedication of our students with the artistic direction of Cirque du Soleil creator, Gilles Ste Croix.

For the fourth year, El Circo de los Niños (The Children’s Circus), headquartered in San Pancho, the Cultural Capital of the Riviera Nayarit, is ready to present their big show.

Seventy young artists from this wonderful circus arts program are featured in this professional production and promises many surprises.

Tickets are selling fast at only 425 pesos (children under 2 years are free) for the four performances on March 16, 17, 18 and 19 at 8:00 pm in the Circo Bodega, Ave. Tercer Mundo #12.

Bahia Soccer Cup - Thursday through Sunday

The 2nd edition of the Bahía Cup in the Riviera Nayarit is ready to go from March 17-21, 2016 with the slogan “Because Soccer Is Everything.” The event will take place in the sports facilities in San José del Valle and Bucerías.

There are a total of nine categories separated by age groups with birthdates from 1998 through 2009. All of the children and youth categories are mixed.

The novelty this second year is the addition of free categories in the male and female divisions for players older than 18 years of age.

Southside Shuffle - Friday

Take a stroll down Basilio Badillo every other Friday evening beginning on November 20 for art, jewelry, fashion, collectibles, restaurants, food, drinks, live music and fun.

This is one of Vallarta's more festive events and the party runs from 6:00 to 10:00 pm and features live music, cocktails and all kinds of great stuff.

Southside Shuffle dates are March 18 and April 1 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm.

Martial Arts Competitions - Friday through Sunday

The World Association of Kickboxing Confederation (WAKO Mexico) will bring "Titans of the Pacific" Open Martial Arts Competitions to Riviera Nayarit on March 18-20, 2016.

More than 400 competitors of all ages will be participating.

Competitions will begin at 7:00 am and will be held at the Paradise Village Resort and Spa in Nuevo Vallarta.

De Colores Benefit for Mens Chorus - Saturday

Put on your best disco attire for the Puerto Vallarta Gay Men's Chorus' “An Evening at Studio 54”!

We invite you to attend the 2016 De Colores fundraiser gala at 6:00 pm on March 19 at Oscar's Restaurant on the Isla Río Cuale. This year's event will also be the Puerto Vallarta Gay Men's Chorus Spring Concert.

A spectacular occasion is planned, including a welcome cocktail party, dinner, silent auction, raffle and concert followed by dancing to the best disco music of the 70's and 80's under the stars. And speaking of stars, there will be other surprise special guest appearances.

New Chapel at Vallarta Botanical Gardens Opening for Palm Sunday - Sunday

The Vallarta Botanical Garden’s new chapel, Nuestra Señora del Jardín (Our Lady of the Garden) will be opened to the public on March 20th with a special ceremony to bless and dedicate this sanctuary within a natural paradise.

All are invited to join us for this special occasion. The mission of the Nuestra Señora del Jardín is to rejuvenate and inspire the human spirit to live in harmony with the natural world while promoting peace and understanding among diverse cultures and faiths.
