Puerto Vallarta has long been known as a premier vacation spot for the LGBT community and for being an accepting and affordable destination. These traits and reputation are now being recognizedand Puerto Vallarta is now being honored as the first city in Mexico to be granted Gay Travel Approved status by GayTravel.com. Gay Travel Approved is GayTravel.com’s way of recognizing select travel partners around the world that have proved to be especially deserving of the LGBT’s communities praise and recognition.

The beachside city offers more side than 20 gay and gay friendly bars, saunas, gay boat tours, cabarets, a gay beach, and a gay bar hopping tour. The peak travel times are usually through October to April with the holidays Semana Santa and Latin Fever (Thanksgiving and New Year’s) being its busiest time of the year. Within the city, there are three areas where the gay nightlife is concentrated: Olas Altas, Lazaro Cardenas and the Rio Cuale with the larger area overall being known to as the Zona Romantica (Gayborhood).
