Mexico Goes for the Gold at Que?Pasa
It's a special early opening of Que?Pasa for the futbol event of the year - Mexico vs Brazil for the Olympic Gold.
Soccer game starts at 9:00 am. Que?Pasa will open at 8:30 am with a great breakfast special - Eggs as you like them, bacon or sausage, home fries or refried beans, tortillas or toast for 30 pesos.
Bloody Marys, Caesars, and Mimosas - 20 pesos. Happy Hour prices on beer and cocktails throughout the game.
Sweet Corn Festival and Lecture Series in Jala
Head up to Jala to enjoy Jaripeos (Mexican Rodeo), fireworks, and a fair devoted to corn-related products, and of course a prize to the largest corn, which sometimes exceeds 16 inches, all taking place in Jala, Nayarit.
The Corn Fair and Festival is taking place until August 15 in the region where the largest corncobs of the world are grown: another tradition that invites you to visit Riviera Nayarit.
Jala is located in the south part of the State of Nayarit. It borders on the north with the municipalities of Santa María del Oro and La Yesca and on the south with the municipalities of Ahuacatlán and Ixtlán del Río.
This year, there will be a special celebration in Jala, and on Saturday, August 11, there will be a series of lectures around this grain and its importance which will be held at Jala's Municipal Auditorium starting at 2:00 pm.

Market Co-op at Paradise Community Center
As most of you know, the Old Town Farmer's Market moved to the Emiliano Zapata School providing much needed space for them. They have closed for the summer but many of the vendors have joined us at the Paradise Community Center.
Come hungry to the Farmer's Market co-op every Saturday morning at 9:00 until 11:30 for a great variety of treats to eat and drink. Vendors offer freshly baked breads, tamales, pies and pastry, coffee, produce and even asian dishes.
Visit the PuRR booth where they always have adorable kitties for adoption, shop the artisan booths for jewelry, ceramics, purses and art objects.
It's always fun and full of treasures.
The Saturday Market Co-op is at the Paradise Community Center, 127 Pulpito, Old Town.
Book Market at the Cuale Cultural Center
Check out the Book Market at the Cuale Cultural Center. Every Saturday at the Cuale Cultural Center, you can enjoy a book market to swap, buy and sell books.
The book market is installed at the entrance of the Rio Cuale on Insurgentes Street in Old Town Vallarta, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The primary objective of this market is to expand and promote options for the practice of reading among children, youth, adults and seniors.
Rainforest Cocoa and Vanilla Celebration at Botanical Gardens
You are invited to the annual Vallarta Botanical Gardens Rainforest Cocoa and Vanilla Celebration taking place for the entire month of August.
Experience the splendor of Vallarta’s rainforest in its divine abundance with a visit to the enchanting Vallarta Botanical Gardens.
During the month of August, special celebration lunches are being prepared including soup or salad, your choice of Mahi Mahi gourmet Fish Tacos or a traditional Jalisco Birria (Beef stew in a traditional spiced red sauce, served with roasted country potatoes, refried beans and handmade corn tortillas). Marisela at Teatro Vallarta
The famous singer Marisela will present her show at Teatro Vallarta.
The date is Saturday, August 11, 2012, at 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm.
Admission is 850 pesos for VIP, 650 pesos for Preferente and 500 pesos for General.

Abuelita de Batman at Cuale Cultural Center
Abuelita de Batman, which translates to "Batman's Grandmother", is a play full of comedy and social commentary written by Alejandro Licona, who has written over 50 plays and has done work for both film and television.
The five act play will begin its run tonight at the Cuale Cultural Center under the direction of Juan Pablo Hernandez Salcedo and featuring a cast of eight actors who are well known from their work as part of the Municipal Theatre Group and other independent companies that perform within Puerto Vallarta.
The play Abuelita de Batman, as part of a theatre collective, will be at the Cuale Cultural Center August 11 and 12 at 8:00 pm.

PEACE Beach Clean-Up
The schedule for the every other Sunday beach clean-up this summer is July 29, August 12, August 26, September 2, September 16 and September 30.
Meet them at 8:30 am for an hour or two at the north side of the mouth of Rìo Cuale where the beach access is by the "sails." Bags and gloves provided.

Via Recreactiva on Francisco Medina Ascencio
The Via Recreactiva takes place on Sundays from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm in Puerto Vallarta, where vehicle traffic is diverted to the laterals on the main highway from the Sports Stadium (across from the Sheraton Hotel) to the Holiday Inn, making the highway open for public walking, bicycling and running.

Free Performances at Los Arcos Amphitheater
Los Arcos Amphitheater, or Aquiles Serdan Theater, is known for its four stone arches which have become a symbol of the city.
Here free performances are given nearly every night to the delight of locals and visitors.
On Sunday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, enjoy the music of the Municipal Band. There is Danzon Music in the main square from 7:00 to 8:00 pm and the Xiutla Dancers perform at the Los Arcos Amphitheater beginning at 8:00 pm.
Street venders offer an array of native food and artisans set up their wares for inspection.
Located at the south end of Downtown's Malecon, it is also a perfect spot to watch the sun set behind the natural arches of Los Arcos and beyond to the horizon of Banderas Bay.
