We are pleased to announce a "back by popular demand" concert fundraiser for the "Salty Paw Jazz Orchestra" on Sunday, December 4 at 4:00 pm at The Breakers Restaurant and Beach Bar in Bucerias. Admission is free.
The "Salty Paw Jazz Orchestra" or "Pata Salada Orquesta de Jazz" (SPJO) is a Big Band style orchestra mostly consisting of young musicians learning improvisation. Inspired by the Puerto Vallarta Big Band, the Salty Paw Jazz Orchestra started as a youth-based workshop where any and all musicians can come and feel free to express themselves artistically through improvisation. The program has an academic base of jazz history, theory, and ensemble. The group is open to more than just traditional jazz instruments, having violin, flute, and clarinet, always included in the ensemble. The program has a focus on teaching individuals to be themselves, be proud of who they are and what they can create in the moment, while having fun. The program is also free to anyone locally who would like to hear and learn about jazz and if you can play an instrument you can play with us. The Salty Paw Jazz Orchestra is a privately funded program that relies on fund raisers and donations from the community for financial support. The Salty Paw Jazz Orchestra is honored to be the first youth-based jazz orchestra in Puerto Vallarta and will continue to be a proud part of this great community. Founder and Music Director of SPJO is Victor Kris.
The proceeds Salty Paw receives from this show will be earmarked for their funding. You are invited to attend and support these young, local and aspiring musicians.
The Breakers Restaurant and Beach Bar is located at Av. Pacifico 15 in Bucerias, Riviera Nayarit.
