Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue (JABR) is all about advocating humane and healthy practices for animals in the Jaltemba area of Mexico, by promoting health, education, sterilization, adoptions, foster care and
positive relationships with animals and their owners.
December 2003 to November 2016: During this time, JBAR offered 24 clinics and spayed or neutered 6,134 animals in the Jaltemba Bay Area!
Clinic Update!
A total of 329 animals arrived at our November clinic and a total of 306 of these were sterilized. WOW, this is our record!! Thanks to so many helping hands. We have amazing volunteers who work long hours to make all this happen.
In addition there were 20 adoptions, 21 medical consultations. Additional medical procedures included: Eye pressure tests, ear scope with Dra. Jimena’s otoscope, numerous blood tests, bones check out, one
epidural by Dr. Ernie Prowse.
Also:
1. At least 5 dentals. Numerous teeth removals - mostly chihuahuas but also one Great Dane, Archie.
2. Umbilical hernia repairs while doing spays as well on 3 female dogs.
3. 6 Dew claw removals on pups after sterilization.
4. Eye surgery done by Dr. Carolyn Buxton on that huge great dane ‘Archie’.
5. Tumour removal on a Put Bull by Dr. Malcolm Macartney.
6. 1 euthanasia on a suffering puppy.
...and my personal favourite:
7. A guinea pig who could not swallow food due to blockage of his molars which had turned inward. This procedure was performed by Dr.Malcolm Macartney.
Our clinic is always full of surprises…it is intense, heartwarming and engaging.
Many, many thanks to our medical team from “Pets for Life” and our Mexi-Can Vet Project medical team, plus Dr. Aldo Barba, our local La Peñita vet.
It is truly an international cooperative effort with a team of very skilled and knowledgeable veterinarians and technicians!
And Special Thanks to our wonderful volunteers (all 70 of you!) who offered loving individual care of our patients during recovery and to all volunteers who helped set up and take down our clinic (an arduous task), those who organized canopies to keep us from melting in the sun, those who worked in reception, those who worked in the in-take and discharge area and all those who participated in any way…..WOW! What a great job you all did!!
It is thanks to our kind hearted donors that JBAR is able to continue to offer these clinics along with free sterilizations, vaccinations and emergency vet care all year long. Please consider making a donation to help us!
The date for our next clinic is set for the Spring: March 22-25th. Hope to see many of you there!
It is all because of you! Thank you!!!
