El Tonino classroom needs roof repair

On Friday, August 10, Octaviano, Sergio and Viky visited the village of Alta Vista to hand out crayons to children in elementary school and to invite them to the drawing competition which aims to highlight the resources and tourist sites of interest the town offers.
Within a short tour of the village, they were able to detect the need to waterproof the roof of the Senior Citizens Club.

The Rotary Club's newest member, Vern Porter presented a possible new service project, "Ignacio Ramirez Primary School" in El Tonino.

The school requires several repairs, equipment and other needs, but the most urgent is to repair the roof of the second classroom that has no use during the rainy season.

Vern made a presentation to the committee which resulted in the approval for it to be presented to other clubs in the U.S. and Canada.

El Tonino is located in the state of Nayarit, Mexico, about one hour and a half hours north of Puerto Vallarta and six kilometers east of the main highway 200.

It is a farming village surrounded by orchards of guanabana. The population of the village is about 250.
