American Legion Post 14 Meet & Greet Plus Carla's Food Bank for the Needy

J. R. Wilson - American Legion Post 14
December 28, 2016

American Legion Post 14 will be hosting a Meet & Greet at the Headquarters (Steve's Sports Bar on Basilio Badillo in Old Town) on Thursday, the 29th of December at 2:00 pm.

We have a couple of out-of-town Legionnaires coming to visit - Jane Welp from Oregon and Rob Santiago from Boston. Any other visitors to the area are welcome also!

We would encourage local Post 14 members (and friends) to attend the event.

It's just a social function - no meeting, no business, just conversation with friends - old and new...and maybe a brew or two.

During our last General Membership meeting, Carla (the owner and manager of Steve's Sports Bar) told the group that she frequently encounters Vets and other Americans/Canadians who are out of money and/or food at the end of the month and ask her for a little help - whether it be a loan or a bite to eat. She said this is pretty common and she does what she can do to help them.

She suggested that if we ever have a little extra food - we could drop it off at the Post (Steve's Sports Bar) and she would be happy to distribute it to folks, as needed. Don Shingler then suggested that the next time you are at Sam's, Costco, or the grocery store - you pick up a couple of bags of beans, some canned goods, or whatever and drop it off next time you are in the vicinity of Steve's. No items that need refrigeration or are perishable, please.

Let's all work together and help those that aren't as fortunate.

Thanks, in advance, for helping fellow vets and others.
