Officials at Mexican airline Aeromar have announced to the PV Mayor, Arturo Dávalos Peña, that they are working to reactivate flights between Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta (a route that Aeromexico suspended last January), a project that is backed by the municipal government.

In a meeting held in the Mayor's office, René Giesemann, Commercial Director of Aeromar, said: "Puerto Vallarta is a destination that has done incredible things in recent years and is also an old friend of Aeromar. There are a number of factors that we have to look at and we are well on our way to returning."

He added that the airline plans two daily flights, one with the Mexico-Guadalajara-Puerto Vallarta route and the other Guadalajara-Vallarta with an evening flight Puerto Vallarta-Guadalajara-Mexico, "so that those arriving early will also be able to return that same day and at the same time allow them to have access to international connections."

Accompanied by Emma Hernandez, Regional Manager based in Tepic, it was explained to representatives of the Tourism Trust that various aspects are covered, including a guarantee fund, which would not be an obstacle because it already applies in other cases, but also "we are very interested in relating to Vallarta in establishing a series of benefits; We are interested not only in the business but in being part of the society and perceiving ourselves as an ally."

Arturo Dávalos Peña responded to the airline executives who have all the support of his government to create an alliance with the Tourism Trust.

"The fact that Aeromar resumes its flights to Puerto Vallarta would be a success because we need air connections with other states. If we help Puerto Vallarta have flights from Guadalajara and other cities, we would be very grateful."

He emphasized that the Municipal Tourism Director, Ramón González Lomelí, is making important contributions to the destination, backed by his extensive experience and knowledge in the tourism field.

"We have bet on this direction because from there many things, art, culture, and in this case generate relationships to work in the connectivity of destinations."

René Giesemann informed the Mayor of Vallarta that the airline is renewing its fleet, emigrating from 48 to 72 seats, in order to attract more passengers and be more flexible in fares.

"We are going to make a very aggressive strategy, we are going to teach our passengers to buy cheaper and realize that it is not expensive to travel to Puerto Vallarta."

In addition, Aeromar is interested in the segment of groups and conventions as "we are the most flexible line at the national level in charter flights with special prices."

After the meeting with the Mayor and Municipal Tourism, they accompanied the Directors of Aeromar to a meeting with members of the Committee of Airlines of the Tourism Trust and the negotiations are on the right track.
