National and international artists will come together this weekend to celebrate "Vida" (Life) with circus acts, workshops and conferences, in the framework of the 5th International Festival of Comedy, Circus and Arts at the Vida Fest, with the support of Vallarta's Institute of Culture (IVC).
From Friday, March 3 through Sunday March 5, in the open air theater of "Aquiles Serdán" on the Puerto Vallarta Malecon and alternate scenarios will be offering artistic shows, workshops, conferences and intervention actions as was announced by the organizers, including the Director of the IVC, Fernando Sánchez.
This event aims to generate through the performing arts a link with the socially vulnerable population, that is, with children and adults in situations of risk, as it seeks to generate an interesting socio-cultural awareness movement in preventing suicide.
That is, Vida Fest seeks to make a call to society in favor of young people, to be a space where they can live new experiences instead of choosing negative paths, thus provoking a change in the society in which we live, creating a youthful, family, cultural and preventive festival.
Coordinator Yuliana García López, cultural promoter of Sonnos and Jason Vazquez indicated that this is a non-profit project, which in its fifth edition will be presented with the participation of important artists such as the host company Pata de Perro, All Staar Circus, Clown Yap and Balam Clown (Mexico City), Pollo Bollo, Circus Lodum, Danzirco (Puerto Vallarta), Trix Company, Mimox Cuenta Cuentos, Chepetin and Partner, Santi Mutante and Mauri K (Argentina), and Ciboulette (Chile).
In addition, the Vida Fest will be taken to the Ixtapa Regional Prison, particularly with the women's sector and also to a secondary school.
"Vida Fest is an event that has a very particular mission focused on attending to a phenomenon that has been growing every day, the subject of suicide, and how to respond to the difficult daily hardships with a smile. High quality shows and workshops are fundamental for the food of the festivals to have much more reach and social work," said Fernando Sánchez.
He added that the circus artists emerge from the social network and are closely linked to their society and their people, who direct their energies to save young people from suicide is something extremely important. In addition this event demonstrates that Puerto Vallarta can produce good comedy events, great sensitivity and quality.
Everybody is invited and complete schedule information for those wishing to attend workshops and conferences will be provided at booths set up on the Malecon around the open air theater or at the Tourist Information Office on the Town Square.
