Summer Dreams Fashion Show Benefit

Why not start your weekend at the St. Regis for their Friday evening barbeque on the beach. The Grand Opening Party for the new Hard Rock Hotel will run from Friday through Sunday. You don't want to miss Saturday evenings Summer Dreams Fashion Show Benefit at the Vallarta Convention Center to benefit our senior citizens. It's your last chance to visit the Cocoa and Vanilla Festival at Vallarta Botanical Gardens or the Embracing the Unknown Exhibition at the Naval Museum. Visit or volunteer for the SETAC HIV AIDS Brigade on Saturday. PEACE beach clean-ups will be on Sunday morning.

Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta Grand Opening Party

The former Vallarta Palace in the Riviera Nayarit section of Puerto Vallarta was re-flagged under the new brand name Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta. We first mentioned the projected August 1st turnover we're happy to report that things are right on schedule, including a big Grand Opening Party beginning on Friday, August 24, through Sunday, August 26, at the Hard Rock Vallarta.

Kicking off the first grand opening event, attendees rock out at an intimate unplugged beach performance by American Idol finalist Michael Johns and an after after party hosted by DJ Laz, notoriously known as Miami’s No. 1 radio personality.

The next morning provides exclusive executive interview opportunities at the Grand Opening Media Press Conference, followed by a poolside brunch and an afternoon free to enjoy the property.

The star studded evening begins with photo opps at the Grand Opening Red Carpet and world famous Hard Rock Guitar Smash to officially inaugurate the hotel, as per Hard Rock tradition.

The Grand Opening Concert sets the tone for the exclusive rock ‘n’ roll event, followed by a VIP After Party featuring DJ ALIYO, where attendees mix and mingle with both the media and entertainers.

The Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta is located in Riviera Nayarit at Paseo de los Cocoteros 19, Nuevo Vallarta.

Beach BBQ at St. Regis Punta Mita

Thanks to the great success of past events, the St. Regis’ famed Beach BBQs are becoming a regular feature! Each and every Friday, enjoy the opportunity to enjoy a BBQ Night on the beach at the St. Regis Resort Punta Mita.

Dinner is served family style in a beautiful set up of long tables placed right on the sandy beach.

On the table... Cobb, Orzo and Cesar salads, traditional guacamole, a selection of delicious Mexican Sauces and homemade breads.

From the grill... baked potatoes, grilled vegetables, rib eye, catch of the day talla style, grilled chicken breast and BBQ ribs. Plus, beer and cocktails are included!

And to add the perfect sweet finish to the evening, enjoy an after party around the fire pit with marshmallows, chocolates and more!

Rainforest Cocoa and Vanilla Celebration at Botanical Gardens

You are invited to the annual Vallarta Botanical Gardens Rainforest Cocoa and Vanilla Celebration taking place for the entire month of August.

Experience the splendor of Vallarta’s rainforest in its divine abundance with a visit to the enchanting Vallarta Botanical Gardens.

During the month of August, special celebration lunches are being prepared including soup or salad, your choice of Mahi Mahi gourmet Fish Tacos or a traditional Jalisco Birria (Beef stew in a traditional spiced red sauce, served with roasted country potatoes, refried beans and handmade corn tortillas). For dessert, choose Vanilla Tapioca or Vanilla Ice Cream topped with chocolate sauce. The special luncheon also includes one glass of wine, one house margarita, one beer, or one non alcoholic drink. HIV AIDS Brigades by SETAC
In order to reduce HIV cases in Puerto Vallarta, SETAC Community Center of Puerto Vallarta will begin conducting brigades to promote education and the prevention of the disease including testing to achieve early detection.

Volunteers and four counselors certified and trained to conducting HIV tests will be running the brigade.

The next brigades are scheduled for Saturday August 25, at the Main Plaza in Pitillal from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and on Saturday, September 22, during the same hours at Lazaro Cardenas Park in Old Town Vallarta by Los Muertos Beach.

Summer Dreams Fashion Show Benefit
The Magno Fashion Show of Suenos de Verano Jalisco (Summer Dreams Jalisco) will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at 8:00 pm.

The event was organized by Valley Agency will take place in Puerto Vallarta's International Convention Center and will be broadcast through Fox Sports Latin America.

Asilo San Juan Diego, Puerto Vallarta's senior citizen home, will be the beneficiary.

Embracing the Unknown at Naval Museum
The Association de la Plástica de Garza García A.C. was founded in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, 26 years ago and currently comprises more than 70 artists, some of whom are being presented at the Naval Museum exhibition which will run until August 31.

During the exhibition of Abrazando a lo Desconocido (Embracing the Unknown), more than 30 artworks of 15 artists from Monterrey will be exhibited in the Naval Historical Museum of Puerto Vallarta.

The Museo Naval (Navy Museum) is open Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm. Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 3:00 to 7:30 pm.

Puerto Vallarta Naval Museum is located downtown at the south end of the Malecon by the ocean and Los Arcos.

PEACE Beach Clean-Up   
The schedule for the every other Sunday beach clean-up this summer is July 29, August 12, August 26, September 2, September 16 and September 30.

Meet them at 8:30 am for an hour or two at the north side of the mouth of Rìo Cuale where the beach access is by the "sails." Bags and gloves provided.
