The first edition of the DamaJuana Raicilla Festival 2017 will take place on March 18 and 19 with the participation of 17 producers from Cabo Corrientes, four from Mascota and two from San Sebastian del Oeste at the Vallarta Cultural Center (IVC) on Isla Rio Cuale.

The program includes lectures about raicilla from experts along with workshops, projections, tastings and musical presentations.

Director of the IVC, Fernando Sanchez, along with Mayor Arturo Davalos Pena stated that the purpose of this regional event is to bring information about the history of raicilla up to the present day.

"We want to provide cultural elements with a regional event to publicize its environmental components and the chain of events bringing its value as a first class product and one of the most important spirits in Mexico," he explained.

The DamaJuana is the spherical glass container holding the raicilla.

All events will take place in and around the Vallarta Cultural Center which is located at the east end of Isla Rio Cuale in the beautiful area of the island that separates Downtown and Old Town Puerto Vallarta.
