Turn Delight On Returns to Act II By Popular Demand Gary R. Beck - Beck's Best

Last December, we had the great pleasure of seeing Delighted Tobehere in a spectacular run here, beloved enough for her to return for a brief stay, so her followers did not hesitate securing tickets from the Act II box office.

"Yes, these are dark times", she admitted, so the audience welcomed New York's "Best in Drag" winner and internationally-celebrated drag star for a night of hilarity, positivity and song. There was no moaning and groaning, but she wished for everyone present to dream and reach for those hopes as many will come into existence employing powerful drive and determination. Delighted is a Southern creation of Charlotte, NC, now living in New York City, and she chatted about the life she had there from birth and how she strove to be truly the person she knew inside that she was. "Luck Be a Lady" opened the night, done fancifully in welcoming the devotees to her night of comedy, smart introspection and delicious music. A graduate of Clemson University, an amazing singer, thoughtful entertainer, comedian and celebrity illusionist, she appeared on Season Ten of "America's Got Talent" with her knockout performance of Josh Turner's "Your Man" earning her four "Yes" votes, but she got no further unfortunately. She has the forceful talent to win the entire show with what she used: a strong, powerfully deep country male voice.

She is delighted living her honest way, returning to her country roots with "Walking in Memphis" to reveal the gentle yet historical nature of its impressions of music on her and the world. She swayed, strutted and made people feel at ease. Delighted impressed a vast majority of the crowd with her thoughtful, analytical and philosophical interpretations, not only of songs but of life itself, resembling a well-taught class.

Act II at Stage II brought our star-lady out singing "Sweet Transvestite" [From Transexual, Transylvania]. At personal events, she often finds herself asking "Am I Delighted to be here? If not, I leave." What may strike one immediately is that she has a full voice which is impressive in its range and strength. Combined with funny and wise narratives, even though people laughed, they were touched with feelings and ideas of how to live one's life more true and treat others well and respectfully. From the "Hedwig" soundtrack, she tore out "Origin of Love". She takes a song and reveals it as a story. She continued the theme of love with "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Misérables" portraying her voice as wide reaching and beautiful. This illusionist is an experienced star, no doubt. Elton John was sampled with a fine medley of "Don't Let the Sun Come Down on Me" and his classic "Your Song". Delighted was as good as any singer one can hear, armed with these tunes.

Delighted teamed up with the owner of Act II Entertainment, Danny Mininni, and they created a show of top illusionists known by Delighted entitled "Legends, Divas and Stars". Somehow, the four artists arranged the same time period and convened here for a show like no other seen in our city. Its run continues but not for long. The delight of the audience may lead to a return of the beauties next high season when many more theater goers will be in town, for the stage oozed with top talent with over a hundred years experience to their names.
